Cyclops and Jean were also a couple in the X-Men Legends video game series. I remember him being overprotective of her in the second game.
A love triangle can be a good thing if it is used to move the story forward or create some compelling character growth, but those things require the triangle to be resolved. A love triangle as a status quo works for precisely 2 sets of comics characters. Archie, Betty, and Veronica, because they are a comedy and that doesn't require the story to advance, and for Clark, Lois, and Superman because one person is secretly 2 legs of the triangle - and that one eventually got resolved anyways.
Dark does not mean deep.
True. The love triangle was buried when Scott and Jean married and then was back for some stupid reason, more likely movie synergy. Personally I can't see either Emma or Logan to be the true loves of Scott and Jean. They have so much history and lore together, they fucking spent 12 years in the future raising their son, that's actually nearly as long as they've been superheroes in the main timeline.
Hopefully we're done with love triangles in X-Men '97 and fingers crossed that MCU would just allow Scott and Jean to be a happy couple, they could go the evolution route and make them much younger than Logan.
Also in the Storm thread, it was being discussed that there are rumors that Beau DeMayo is working on the X-Men movies.

I don't think that this going to be the case though
If '97 Cyclops ends up to be the MCU's main Cyclops, well I don't know what to say... that's just too much to handle!!
