Yes, he did. And it didn't make sense to me but Marvel had Kurts romantic life in full throttle: His dance with Storm, his kiss with Rachel, the flirting with Betsy, dating Night Nurse... Maybe it was to make up for his time as a priest.

I wonder if visually portraying Rachel as an (chaste) sex bomb in EXCALIBUR after her largely asexual existence up to that point was an Alan Davis thing or Claremont. She suddenly became all about stilettos and tight dresses. I recall her look being lovingly referred to as "what Alan Davis thinks a sexy woman wears"
Looking back with a modern view, I wonder how Rachel as a representation of the Asexual spectrum might be accessed.

TLDR she's kind of positioned as the x-men's answer to Doctor Who in some ways, defending space and time and in a roundabout way reclaimed her Phoenix-y identity as Askani without actually using the Phoenix Force (wibbly wobbly timey wimey is why).

For this chapter she's leading her own team, instrumental to the plot, and in all honestly she's really the only x-men who would make sense in her role so it doesn't feel forced.

I also appreciate her getting a break from Betsy (and vice versa) just to buck lesbian merge stereotypes.

Also, that armor/outfit rocks.

Thank you, that is exciting. I'm so used to Rachel getting sidelined for any major event that it's refreshing she's at the forefront and even leading her own team. Askani is something I always felt should be explored more with Rachel since it gets mostly ignored.

The break from Betsy is much needed for both characters.
