Yeah the 12 story in the 1990s isnt good. Imo

I actually wouldn't mind seeing it adapted onscreen but heavily revamped. For the X-Men in the MCU, this could be their Thanos/Infinity Gauntlet/Endgame arc.

Kurt and Kitty became so close during 'Excalibur.' Of course they were friends in 'X-Men' but it had really deepened here. Kitty definitely became one of Kurts best friends just below Logan as # 2 in my opinion.

That's what I felt too. Kurt and Kitty were friends in UXM but it wasn't until Excalibur that they felt like a family. Kitty's relationships with Piotr, Ororo, and Logan also trumped her time with Kurt. Same with Rachel with Kurt and Kitty. In UXM especially, Rachel didn't seem all that well-liked by anyone.

Another reason why I loved X-Men Evolution because it was the only X-Men media to showcase that Kurt/Kitty dynamic.

Kurt being a boss. I love when he tells Excalibur to attack. It was once said that Kurt wasn't a natural at leading and that he had to grow into it. I really love the character growth from Kurt being a reluctant leader in 'X-Men' to a confident one in 'Excalibur'.

More... Kurt wasn't official during the CC /Davis run. It wasn't until Davis' solo run but Kurt still took the lead on many occasions.

where does Kurt acquire his swords? Are they custom made? Self-made? Does he have a private fencing match against someone once a year, with "no powers"?

I was quite conflicted when I came back to comics in 2019 (I stopped reading when CC left, returned briefly in the 2000s) to see how ubiquitous Kurt’s swords had become. He’s always had them, particularly in fantasy scenarios but carrying them on day to day missions is another matter. Swords are difficult to carry if you are principally an acrobatic character and dangerous; it’s a weapon designed only to kill, which is not Kurt at all; for all his pirate fantasies, he would have made a very poor pirate, he lacks the ruthless streak, Kurt is way more Stede Bonnet than Blackbeard.

Which, I think, shows that fans think about such things far more than Marvel editorial, who just think it looks cool.

Now, of course, Kurt carries a sword within him, a la Illyana’s soul sword. Given that Kurt was the host to the soul sword for a while, it’s not as left field as I thought it would be. However, now the Krakoa era is over, indeed, seems to be being discarded, I wonder if the hope sword will go too? The hope sword, I liked and was very much in character (plus, it’s carrinside him, so no worries about carrying it while doijgn acrobatics).

I do hope the hopesword is not forgotten about. I thought it was a great addition to his skill set and more in keeping with his swashbuckling fantasy. The sword can be used to kill but Kurt has been using it to heal. Plus he’s able to do his acrobatics without any hinderance, then pulling the sword out whenever needed.

That said I can absolutely believe that the ham would be carrying around a real sword for the aesthetics despite having a more powerful one conveniently lodged in his chest.

I adore all the covers but I think Yu's my favorite. It just jumps out right at Yu and he makes the costumes look good. Kurts got muscles and I prefer my Kurt with them and not be scrawny. I also may be biased since he is one of my favorite artists. Vecchio's Kurt now may not be as good to me but his Kurt is acceptable. Nowhere near as bad as the original teaser artist version.

I think I'm the only one wouldn't be too upset if we don't see the hope sword in Gails run. Leave that stuff to Illyana. I prefer his rapiers. Kurt swashbuckling is cool but I hope that's not all he does and that we will get character driven stories for him. I also hope that Destiny and Mystique make appearances.
