What were the edgy retreads in JSA and Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E.?

I don't think Aquaman got that edgy either (The Trench aside but those were new). I guess the Thrones of Atlantis death?

The only new characters that really mattered were Miss Martian, Ravager, and Kid Devil.

Rose and Eddie were not new characters.

No, but there was a discount Brother Blood, to be sure.

Always hated that DC Direct produced an action figure of lame Baby Blood instead of the superior version created by Wolfman and Perez. Looking back, Johns' run was only okay.

To be fair that came pretty late in his run.

The only new characters that really mattered were Miss Martian, Ravager, and Kid Devil.

Most of the characters he introduced were "repurposed characters." Such as Frankenstien, Hotspot, Kid Devil and Ravager. For the really NEW characters, Zachary Zatara also had some longer legs. And I really wanted to know more about Molecule, but never got to.

Well, by that time he had to put new characters to the team cause Infinity Crisis f*ked with a lot of Titans.

He did do his whole John's thing where the heroes dad needed to be killed off and was the one who had Aquaman also kill Manta's dad to justify the blood feud between them.

Lol good point. And to be fair I think it worked for a character like Arthur and his relationship with Black Manta vs someone like Barry Allen.

They weren't just rehashes though, just re-using established concepts differently as a way to re-introduce a new Titans team.

To me it's just taking certain established concepts and then watering them down/diminishing them with a new and less interesting character.

So that's your stance on Jericho in Deathstroke or Johns' Brother Blood? I think those were the only instances I can think of...other than using Dr. Light as a major antagonist but it was very different than what Wolfman/Perez did with him.
