I'm of the opinion that the Morrison era kids be honorary. Plus only Soorya made the jump to be part of Academy X.

Her and the Cuckoos. But I'll be dead in the ground before I put Quentin freaking Quire anywhere near these kids.

But I don't consider the Morrison era kids part of Academy X. They might be part of the same generation, but they rarely interacted with the Academy X kids during their era, if ever. Their stories are so divorced from them. When I think of Academy X, I might think about the Cuckoos, since they interacted with the cast in their books and after the brand ended. But I don't think of Ernst, even though I like her.

David Baldeon for redesigns, definitely.

For writers, I've got a few ideas. I'd like to see DeFillipis and Weir return without the hobble of writing an all-ages title and give the Academy X kids some love. I'd like to see a younger writer (like Ayala or Williams) take a stab at writing a bunch of late teens/early twenties characters. And, of course, Al Ewing, because Al Ewing should write everything.

I hope one day some editor recognizes this generation’s potential. It probably won’t be Brevoort considering how he treated the young Avengers characters, but a new team always brings me a tiny bit of hope.

I am kind of torn on how I’d want them back, though. I don’t know if as a “New X-men” team or spread out across all the books. It would be kind of cool if each team had a New X-men.

I really wanted Surge to be back and I wish they explored her story and powers better. It seems like they put Surge away in a box and gave her personality to Armor. Surge is way more interesting than Hisako, not to mention her dynamic with Hellion was really good and it only got better during House of M. She's a great leader, a little hot-headed though.

Elixir has a good role being one of the five, but then again he's become part of a group and there's no individuality anymore, which is sad. Only Hope can act on her own and explore her powers and the others are just "part" of a unit. Elixir and Tempus are being wasted.

Back to the Academy X kids, I'm also glad Sofia is back! I hated when she got depowered and missed out on important events that her friends got to be part of, specially the battle against Nimrod. I recently found out DJ was back too and used his powers in some instances (finally lol). Dust is nowhere to be found afaik. Rockslide got the short end of the stick in that silly X of Swords event.

I usually only cared about the main two squads (New X-men and Hellions).
