Default 'House of X/Powers of X: Chronological Edition' #1 - Marvel Unlimited

    New ‘House of X/Powers of X: Chronological Edition’ #1 re-presents X-Men series
    https://aiptcomics.com/2024/01/03/ho...cal-edition-1/

There’s a new way to read ‘House of X’ and ‘Powers of X’ via Marvel Unlimited.

Marvel Comics has released a new version of House of X and Powers of X, re-presenting the series in chronological order. Available via Marvel Unlimited, the new presentation features a letter by X-Men Senior Editor Jordan D. White explaining why they went this route and what it means.

Fans who are nervous Marvel is tinkering with their favorite Krakoa Era story should not be worried there’s been meddling. White explains it was approved to be released by Jonathan Hickman himself. As White explains, which you can read in full below, the idea was inspired by the deleted features of the film Memento. That film’s original cut featured a story told backward, which gave White the idea to offer House of X and Powers of X in a similarly reorganized format.

I must admit, I'm interested. Sounds like a fun way to experience it!

I saw this last night and was like WTH. I flipped through it and it definitely is going to be a different read and likely in an exciting way. Can't wait to jump in. HoX is likely the best one and done X-Story for me.
I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

I’m glad Jordan came around on Hickman’s pitch, I can’t believe he balked at it on first go!

The concept behind this that there was money in fans’ pockets that Marvel didn’t have yet and they had an unpaid intern with nothing to do.

Would be nice to re-experience HoX as a detoxing therapy from FoTHoX.

JDW put it together and kept it in the archives. He then offered to share it when the end of the era started and Marvel, and Hickman, agreed to release it through Unlimited. If one already has Unlimited it doesn't cost anything extra.

Wasn't the entire point of the original dual mini series not having it's events in order, so that the reader would be left guessing or getting fooled to keep up suspense, so the suprisingly revelation at the end would be more impactfull?

Like the story beginning with the four scenarios presented as X0 to X3, in order to fool the reader into thinking they are reading a linear set of events that are currently bound to happen, until the big reveal that X2 is actualy a "later" event while X3 is a previous one, just seperated by alternative timelines.

Which also includes red herings like the Librian being implied to be a future mutant or why Cylobel is present in X3 in exactly the fade she experiences in X2.

Yes which is why Jordan says in his letter above that this is not the recommended way to read the series if a reader hasn't read it before, this is just for fun.

I just read it as well and you're right, it's really weird. In some ways it feels like a different story.

yeah the pacing and the flow is so different.

It feels less like a rollercoaster and more like a rocket, it begins with a bang and keeps going and picks up speed all the way to the end.

This is the perfect way of describing it.
