I trust DeMatties to be a better writer than that but yeah, the odds aren't looking good. Still, I hope they can do something genuinely interesting with it instead of just going the predictable way with it.
I think I wait for solits and maybe a preview before I have an opinion about this.

Looks fun
I read the third chapter of the hill
the story is actually quite interesting
still too little Jason but still there for what he did:
-does detective work
-Has a pretty good relationship with Dana as characters
-He has a fight and actually wins a fight with a demon (or whatever he actually is)
And yes it's small compared to others but we Jason fans have seen worse so seeing Jason actually do something is still good
But by taking him away
Lenny has an interesting power and is a good gimmick
it is neither too strong nor is it inconsistent that it hasn't been used before and it is too weak to not be a real threat
Croc being the antagonist after the hill 0 is consistent with what happened in the prologue issue
I don't like that Batman showed up
I would have preferred some other issue without him

Yeah, the mini is not bad by any means and now that all the setup is done we can move into the real meat of the story. I don't think that Croc is being written that inconsistent since Lenny doesn't seem to be that powerful of a meta and he probably is confident that Jason can handle it while he gets a nice payday from Korlee Jr.
And I'd take Jason taking a backseat over being used as the designed jobber any day of the week.
Juni Ba hosted an AMA on the League of Comic Geeks site and his answers about Jason have me slightly more hopeful about him treating Jason with respect.
Solicits
The Robin lives solicit sounds way more interesting if they actually kill Joker from the get-go and interestingly, the Hill solicit implies Jason is sticking around.FROM THE DC VAULT: DEATH IN THE FAMILY: ROBIN LIVES #1

In 1988, DC fans made a seminal choice in the history of DC publishing—voting to kill off Jason Todd’s Robin in the Death in the Family storyline. Now, for the first time, we want to find out what would have happened if fans had voted to let him live. And it begins—with the murder of The Joker!

It’s been problem after problem since Jason Todd took up residence in the Hill. Madmen, megalomaniacs, and monsters have menaced Red Hood and his allies constantly since his arrival, but he—and you, dear reader—can’t prepare for what comes next. Can Red Hood be the savior his new city needs, or will the Hill go to Hell? Find out in the climactic finale!
Fun bit, Jason in what is either his classic look or the Toy armor is in the variant of Nightwing instead of the MK ripoff suit.
Didn't they make a whole movie on what would have happened if Jason Todd had killed the Joker instead of being killed by them? With multiple endings?
