Last time I won the contest caught me by surprise. I haven't had anything prepared for a theme. This time it's a good news/bad news situation. I had prepared a theme (a few in fact), but haven't checked the master list if any of my ideas were used already. Tried to do it quickly just now, but soon I realised that is not a task to be taken lightly. So I cheated a bit. I used the Find command typed in Cape and nothing came up. I guess this theme would do:
"CAPE(s) TO BEHOLD!!!"
The boarder details follow:
Any character with a cape will do just fine, and I mean... just fine.
Lots of caped characters (if not all)... is a better choice.
Character(s) with a cape who usually do NOT wear a cape... is where things are getting interesting.
But if you really want to impress me, then look for covers where
Special attention/detail is given to a cape, or it has a purpose, and that function does not necessarily lead to the characters benefit, or the humanity, but... it also could.
Hopefully this widens the scope for a fun contest.
I did have a particular cover in my mind for this theme, but eventually decided to ditch it, not because it wasn't good (in fact it is so good it has the potential to win the contest, apropos, I'm curious if anyone else will pick that cover, if you do you'll have my vote from the get go), but because as I was standing in front of the New Releases cabinet at my LCS, one cover stood out from the rest.
Fresh off-the-rack:
The Rules: Have fun and be nice to each other.
The Logistics:
1) Post One (& ONLY ONE) Cover that fits the theme of this Week's Contest!
2) Cover must be from a Published Comic Book or Collected Volume!
3) Covers must be Posted before Voting Begins!
4) Voting Begins 12 AM Tuesday and Runs Until 12 AM Wednesday PST (3 AM EST)!
5) Vote by Posting the name in BOLD of the Poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most! A vote need not be in bold, but it does make it easier to Count-The-Votes!
6) The Winner of the Contest is the Entry with the MOST Votes after the Voting-Period!
7) It's Okay to Discuss the Covers but if you Think Someone's Entry Doesn't Fit the Theme or Violates the Rules, you Don't need to Argue it in the thread, Simply Don't Vote for It!
8) Plus: Occasionally Voting will Result in a Tie! The Person Who Started the Thread will do the Counting that Week will Usually call for a TIE-Breaking --Vote from Someone who has Not Yet Voted!
9) AFTER the Tie-Breaker Vote, Voting Ends and the Winner is Declared by The One Who Started the Thread (or another volunteer surrogate). Winner picks the new topic.
