I haven't really been keeping up with this Orchis storyline or whatever, but from the outside looking in... what about them makes them such a huge threat to the point where they got all the mutants hiding in fear? All I see is humans with guns... and Nimrod I guess. Where's Storm in all of this?

They've convinced most of the governments of the world that mutants need to either be deported to Arakko/Mars or exterminated. Governments have handed over their security to Orchis and their Stark Sentinels. The X-Men are scattered with only a few in their numbers while most of mutantkind is missing. They don't have Krakoa as their home base anymore either. Storm is on Arakko having just finished fighting a war.
