Equalized was not a remake but a new movie based on a TV show, Death Wish is a one note violence flick.
Taxi Driver is a complex classic dealing with the human psyche and very much ingrained in 1970s New York. Trying to remake it would be a disaster, and I am pretty sure Scorcese could stop it.
But there is The Joker if you want Scorcese redux.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Charles Bronson made 4 or 5 Death Wish films.

Closest thing to that idea could be Denzel Washington's Robert McCall who worked as an Uber driver after assassin retirement, down to what led him to his final retirement spot and "mission" in Italy in Equalizer 3.

Can't see this going anywhere at all but note the movies director responds to the story in the comments! He does not say nice things about wb.

Man for the theaters sake I hope this year turns around. Right now projections are one of the worst non pandemic years ever.

Theaters have the best post pandemic VDay box office with a surprising 20 million** made by new releases

OL made ~14M (it’s the 2nd biggest first day* box office for any movie released since July 2023)

Madame Web made ~6M (it is a better first day than Aquaman sequel (4.5M), Morbius (5.7M) and Blue Beetle (3.3M) surprising enough)
Still pretty slow box office but both did a little better than expected opening day (a little) from bot but how much will they drop today?

Also, madame web out of theatre reactions have been really funny on youtube!

Webs rt audience score is out--57.

    So average score.

Also, a twist in the roadhouse not getting a big-screen releases drama.

Dune pt2 on March 1 will be the first big test of audience interest in event films
Kung Fu Panda 4 will be Family films fist test on March 8
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire on March 22

My assessment is that if March hasn't provided a significant boost the yearly Box Office is in trouble. As of now Jan-Feb are typical down times even pre-Covid.
    April looks weak
May - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes looks to be the first summer test for audiences. I don't think Fall Guy will surprises us as a monster hit but who really knows for sure.

The first few episodes of the shogun remake show will release in theaters next week as a "movie" to promote the show.

Deadline talks about this weekends box office chances. Also oddly while many are not fans of madame web its not as hated by families.

    https://deadline.com/2024/02/box-off...eb-1235828289/

Meanwhile, Sony/Marvel’s Madame Web did $2.15M on Thursday, -64% for a two-day of $8.2M. It could still get to $20M, but, man, oh, man, those audience scores are rough. Two stars on PostTrak so far for a 58% from general audiences. Overall 53% guys attending to 47% women. For some reason parents (mostly dads at 62%) and kids under 12 saw a different movie: They both gave it 4 1/2 stars. Madame Web is nesting at 4,103 locations.

It's an interesting problem what we see in many cases is that the studios pack during some months and the competition kills certain films. Elemental did well, but it came out the same time as Flash and Indiana Jones and then August came along and nothing was released.

April has zero notable hits but a number of films that could do very well. From Challengers to Sasquatch movie, to Apigail, to Civil War and the new Oman film.

May is going to be a big month with not only Fall Guy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes but also if which looks like a high concept big hit that takes the first bite out of the kids apple. Follow that up with the new Mad Max movie and you've then got the summer lineup set.

June then becomes very quiet with Inside Out and the new Kevin Costner movie which is split in two. Costner might end up being the big winner this year as a bunch of sequels with low interest are coming out.

The real surprises to me looking at the BO are Bob Marley and Migration.

Migration has grossed over $100m domestic and Bob Marley is opening to $46m+ for the 6 days.

I definitely didn't see that coming.

Yeah still waiting for box office but bob marley overperformed and migration really made a comeback even with it on vod already.

Overseas both china and japan box office doing really well with china holiday movies making a billion!

Guess unlike most of people in america they are going to the movies again!

    https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/c...eds_1_billion/

Speaking of japan Haikyu the movie has opened to the 4th highest opening in japan history!

    https://www.reddit.com/r/boxoffice/c..._battle_movie/

And unlike america they don't shove their big screen movies vod two weeks later! What a concept!

box office is out. Don't forget its a three day weekend so full box office is monday.

Marley defeats madame web at the box office with $51m.

.Paramount’s Bob Marley: One Love is going to be so high this weekend with a $51M 6-day that the Reinaldo Marcus Green directed movie is going to post a 3-day of $27.7M that’s higher than Paramount’s own Rocketman ($25.7M) which happened during the pre-pandemic summer days of May-June 2019. Bob Marley isn’t that far from the $31.2M opening of Warner Bros.’ 2022 Elvis. Essentially, Bob Marley: One Love did its job and opened exactly where pop legend musical biopics should. 4-day on Bob Marley is $33.2M. For box office trivia purposes: the multi-Oscar winning Bohemian Rhapsody posted a 3-day opening of $51M.

Filmmaker Ziggy Marley, who produced the movie, said, “My family and I are honored with the amazing response to Bob Marley: One Love. Like my father’s music, this movie is meant for the people and his message of peace, love, and unity is clearly connecting with audiences around the world. We thank the people for embracing this film and in so doing helping to highlight the message of one love.”
    As for web--

Also as of this minute, Sony/Marvel’s Madame Web is coming in at the higher end of its pre-weekend estimates with a near $26M ($25.8M) — now that’s nothing to celebrate as everyone knows this movie tanked, critically, fan-wise and to a certain degree financially (if the pic hits $50M global this weekend, the loss won’t be that traumatic given Sony’s rich international TV output deals and its Netflix deal).

Bob Marley: One Love and Madame Web‘s better than expected forecast now stems from the former’s robust Saturday of $11.7M and the latter’s $6.4M yesterday. Bob Marley‘s Saturday was bigger than Elvis’ ($9.9M) and Rocketman‘s ($9.2M).

All of this underscores that moviegoers are starving for movies. The overperformance of Bob Marley: One Love and Madame Web‘s consistency provides hope that Legendary/Warner Bros’ Dune: Part Two to overindex beyond its conservative $65M estimate (the movie does have a very good chance of hitting $80M when it opens on March 1).

Box office firm EntTelligence reports that Bob Marley: One Love pulled in 3.8M patrons while Madame Web drew 1.8M.
Migration did really well as well pulling back up to 4th.
