It doesn't sound like that's the case, though. If they're going to make $35-40-million on the write-off, but they're not accepting offers that might be more than that but less than the $75-80-million, they they're losing some money.

The words deletion and demolition, which might be required for tax purposes, get me a little worked up. Erasing it from existence just hits differently than the more polite terms like "shelving".

It was set to release same day as barbie and oppen by the way. Also, wb didn't even give them a chance for pitches or even tell then before hand they could pitch. $80m or screw you. There's the door.

Paramount even offered to do like day the earth blew up and release it in theaters for them and they turned them down.

Pretty sure on the big-screen or vod this movie would make more than $35m. It feels like wb has done everything they could to kill this movie and don't know why. Animation has had it rough under zaslab since he first showed up.
Movie math can't always be trusted but if we go by what was released Space Jam II only really netted them 13 million so it's likely they thought another live action Tunes movie wouldn't do much better.

Again, it sucks because it sounds like it could have been fun but at the end of the day the bottom line is what matters.

We don't really know what the offers were though, and erasing films has always happened so it's not new. It's just new that it makes the news.

Turns out the 4 heads who voted to tax cut the movie never even watched it. You taxed cut something you didn't even watch? What?

Oh well. No point in complaining, I guess. Zaslab is gonna tax cut, I guess. We might as well get used to it. Him spending $80m and trying to get a $35m tax cut out of it when vod can make $35m alone.

In a little less tax cut wb news dune 2 pre sales have been great. So, guess some good non tax cut wb news.

Star wars ep 1 returning to the big-screen in may. It's 25!

From bot looks like dune 2 pre sales still great. Bob markey doing a little better than expected.

Demon slayer pre sales doing well in areas. Turning red not a great start but as Disney never bothered to market it what did they expect.

Ku fu panda pre sales are slow. Madame web-- ????

One of the worst super bowl box offices this weekend. Turning red with no marketing at all no shock it didn't even make top 5. Why put these in the movies if you don't even promote them disney?

Matthew Vaughn’s spy thriller “Argylle” emerged victorious over newcomer “Lisa Frankenstein” in a moribund box office with both films struggling to show signs of life.

“Argylle” claimed the No. 1 spot again with $6.5 million from 3,605 North American venues, marking a steep 62% decline from its disappointing debut. After two weeks of release, Apple’s big-budget caper has generated $28 million at the domestic box office. It cost $200 million to produce and stands as the year’s first big bomb.

Horror-comedy “Lisa Frankenstein” cratered in second place with $3.8 million from 3,144 venues — a terrible start for any movie in wide release. However, Focus Features only spent $13 million to make the film, which may cushion box office shortcomings.
Although the year is young, this was also the lowest-grossing weekend of 2024. As a sign of the complete lack of box office competition, David Ayer’s action thriller “The Beekeeper” remained in the top three for the fifth consecutive weekend, while Timothee Chalamet’s “Wonka” stayed in the top four for the ninth weekend in a row.

“The Beekeeper” landed in third place with $3.46 million from 3,057 venues, bringing its North American tally to $54.7 million. The Amazon MGM film has earned $79.2 million at the international box office for a decent global tally of $133.8 million.

“Wonka” added $3.1 million from 2,764 venues, boosting its domestic tally to $205 million. The family-friendly film, which cost $125 million, has grossed more than $575 million worldwide.

Universal and Illumination’s animated comedy “Migration” took the fifth spot with $3.02 million from 2,684 theaters this weekend. The family film has grossed $110 million in North America and $104 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $226 million.

Next week we have madame web, bob marley, what about love, dune 1 as we wait for demon slayer, dune 2 and kung fu panda 4.

Bob Marley reviews are not good....Madame Web I guess it has a late embargo. On the plus side thanks to the poor reception of all of these movies AMC is carrying The Teachers Lounge, Out of Darkness, Taste of Things, and The Monk and the Gun. And hopefully they can retire those Madame Web and One Love trailers.

Anyone But You has now surpassed Ticket to Paradise when it comes to modern romcom films. Are Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney the new George Clooney and Julia Roberts?!?

A business choice is NOT making it in the first place.

Along with not pandering to toxic folks about a new cut of a butchered Justice League film.

And what makes it worst is the folks who axed the film NEVER bothered to watch it. That does way more damage and no tax cut on Earth is going to make up for it. Who wants to work with folks who don't bother to watch your stuff before deciding to ax something.

That just makes sure all those folks along with everyone that saw their shows axed on CW or lost cast members because of bad choices of the folks in charge-avoid the company even more.

And the public look at a Looney tunes movies getting axed but we are getting a DC movies with no name creature commandos.

If you have mismanaged the company this bad it might be best to STOP everything or complete what is on slate and then reevaluate the company.

The Beekeeper is turning into a decent sized minor hit for Statham. It was #3 last week and retained the #3 spot for this week.

According to Google it cost $34m to make.

Hes been The Mechanic and now he's the Beekeeper.
At least he isn't the Bricklayer.

Beekeeper is actually Statham's biggest solo movie worldwide in theaters, and it's not done yet. Bigger than Mechanic Resurrection, and that movie had $49 million from China, where Beekeeper is not released. The only thing bigger are his Meg movies, which don't exactly compare because they are Jurassic Park-lite blockbusters, complete with being based on novels.

Now imagine if somebody made a movie about a taxi driver.

Death Wish and Equalizer have both been remade. Kind of surprised Taxi Driver hasn't been remade.
