The art for this era has been incredibly on-point.

Sandoval is a Sampere tier artist and I’m bummed he’s seemingly not staying on Superman like how Sampere also bailed. Envious of the Wonderfans for seemingly being set to get a long WW run with Sampere on art. Superman could use a “Capullo”, an artist who sticks around for a while and helps define his world’s look. They should move Sandoval over to Williamson Superman to let him and Campbell rotate.

At ComicsPRO DC revealed its summer blockbuster publishing initiative will be called Absolute Power, a four-issue series launching July 2 and led by writer Mark Waid and artist Dan Mora. Absolute Power dives into how Amanda Waller will plot to steal all metahuman abilities from superheroes and villains alike, requiring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to unite with other heroes of the DC Universe to stop her. DC also shared that a special Absolute Power comic will be a part of Free Comic Book Day, and it will include an original story by Waid along with a recap of the events leading up to the big event and a sneak peek of Absolute Power #1. DC also revealed Absolute Power: Ground Zero, an official one-shot prelude to the big event that will debut in June, connecting Superman's House of Brainiac storyline with Amanda Waller's evil deeds in Absolute Power.

There it is, Waid is handling the summer event. Brainiac Queen is sticking around after Hosue do Brainiac, but the main man himself seems indisposed, curious to see what happens.

My new theory is that Brainiac Queen is Lena Sr. Not giving up on her showing up just yet, she’s too obvious a choice to include in the current Luthor focused Superman run for Williamson to not bring up or address yet. We know Brainiac wants something “buried in Metropolis”, and Lena is buried under Lexcorp last we saw. She turned herself into a weird cyborg thing iirc, which means transforming her into the Brainiac Queen wouldn’t even be that extreme a change for her. Plus she hates Lex, and Williamson’s run touches on a lot of Lex’s past sins returning to bite him and Superman.

This is true. She’s buried underneath Metropolis, she’s a relative just like Leticia. You’d think Graft and Pharm would have recruited her.

No she was never married because both her and Lex were deaged. Even after Rebirth they’ve kept Johns JL in canon, Lena’s history all come from there now. Course Lex got his daughter back, but Lori is even more obscure.

I’m wondering if this time the situation will be reversed. Perhaps Lex will end up in control of Brainiac’s knowledge as opposed to how those “meeting of the minds” usually go. In fact given the DCAU influence on Williamson’s run, perhaps we might see his own take on the Luthor/Brainiac “merger”.
