Same thing happened in Secret Origins. Instead of a Wonder Woman story, we got Golden Age Fury. It was an interesting story, but I felt robbed of a retelling of the best Wonder Woman origin.
You got it wrong. By the time Who's Who got to Superman, it was decided to only do entries for Earth-2 Superman and post-Crisis Superman. Earth-1 Superman, his Fortress of Solitude, and the Superman Revenge Squad were all left out. Earth-1 Supergirl was included, however. Earth-2 Wonder Woman and Post-Crisis Wonder Woman got entries, but Earth-1 Wonder Woman didn't.

Well, half-wrong. Secret Origins did not include Golden Age Wonder Woman's origin.

But Who's Who started out pre-Crisis, and should have stayed that way for the entire volume. They could have done a one-issue follow up with all of the post-Crisis character like Byrne's Superman and Perez's Wonder Woman. I don't recall how this affected Wonder Girl's entry, but good to know that at least Golden Age Superman and Wonder Woman were included, since they had already included Golden Age Batman. As others have stated, DC was just too wishy washy in this period -- trying to have their cake and eat it too. That's why their continuity has been a mess ever since.

    To heck with Marv Wolfman!

One more example does come to mind, and it's another comic book written by Roy Thomas (as the onetime curator of DC's fabled and suddenly defunct Earth Two continuity, Thomas had a lot more heavy-lifting to do than almost any other writer at the company at the time): Infinity Inc. #27 where Henry King Jr. (A.K.A. Brainwave Jr.) "mind wipes" Lyta Hall, daughter of the Golden Age Wonder Woman, effectively removing any memory of her mother and father and Earth Two itself. A very emotional and heartfelt goodbye to the original WW. Honorary mention, too, for Infinity Inc. 30 which served as a sort of epilogue to Last Days of the Justice Society.
