There is precedeence for that. In the Symbiote Spider-Man comic by Peter David from a few years ago, in one page, we saw Spider-Man jumping from one Twin Tower to the next. That comic certainly took place in the 80s.

wild. so they're using the characters seen in the Secret Wars toys including the ones that ended up being "Europe release only"... lol!!! wild!

wait-- I don't think the original toys made anybody from the FF.. which would have been cool, by the way, to have all four members.

If it's the toyline I remember Magneto was one of the four villains in the first release, which is amusing given his role in the comic. I've said before that the plot of the original Secret Wars is really just putting a finger up to the premise.
