Default Superman powers that would have you say "WHAT?!"

    Superman.jpg
Superman has always been a powerful being from his origins in the 1940's. In the comics as well as other media Superman has developed powers on the fly. There have been plenty of times where he pulls some new power out of his behind whether it be sharing his eyesight to cure the blind (pictured [Superman Newspaper Dailies-Golden age]), Great Wall of China vision (Superman IV: The Quest for Peace), and more...heck the Silver Age was RIPE with this stuff to the point you wonder what writers were on.

What is a Superman power that are so confusing, puzzling, and absurd that would cause you pause to say..."What?!"

Heat vision. Originally this was based on the idea his eyes sent out X-rays and that this somehow in turn heating up objects. Since his x-ray vision being based on sending out X-rays makes no sense as vision is based on the reception of light not on human eyes sending light out, the whole idea was flawed from day one.

Super-ventriloquism enabling him to send his voice through space or to only be heard by a select individual.

His control over sound is ridiculous. Ventriloquism is an attempt at mitigation but 7.7 on the Richter? Disintegration? A BILLION decibels?

But the wall building vision is pretty close.

That would be the perfect way to give people cancer too. I prefer the other explanation where Superman is capable to see that range thank to be sensible to the ambient x ray particles instead.

He did have a power in the GA that was kind of interesting. He could reshape his face muscles to look like other people. Kind of wish he kept that one.

I tend to see it come up but unlike the mind control, face contorting, etc it was just kinda something he gained and lost in that same story. It's like Spider-Man having six arms more than something he can actually do

This is one of those weird personality crisis Superman stories that can only happen to Superman. Robert Crumb could have wrote this! Seriously bizarre and excellent Superman comic. I don’t think it’s red kryptonite buts it’s like a red kryptonite adventure.
