Hopefully this counts, but my next choice would be...

    Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo

Reservation Dogs. It kind of counts if your mission is to make it to California. A great show https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1362358...6_nm_2_q_reser

Surprised on one mentioned 'Goonies' -- even though it's not of of may favorites.

    Monster Squad was fantastic. Bogus!

Another twisted example would be The Black Phone (adapted from a story from Stephen King's son), where the ghosts of children murdered by a serial killer contact the latest kid kidnapped by him in order to help him escape and avenge their deaths. The kid's psychic sister helps too.

It's been mentioned twice or more in this thread.

Though I listed The Goonies and Stand By Me, I really can't praise Stand By Me enough. It's so Stephen King, the darkness and ugliness of maturity. Kids still managing to be kids despite the sadness and tragedy around their lives. As a bit of a Stephen King nerd, I love Kiefer Sutherland as Ace Merrill, because the novel (not film!) Needful Things finishes off Ace Merrill's story, and when reading the novel I see and hear Keifer's voice since he played Ace so well and it's easy enough to imagine an older Keifer as Ace in Needful Things. Max Von Sydow and Keifer Sutherland scenes exist only in my imagination but they rock (in my imagination).

Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

Monster Squad, Stand by Me, Goonies, and E.T. are all great choices, But I'm going to go with a forgotten film. Big Shots with Darius McCrary who was in Family Matters. He helps a white kid from the suburbs try and get back his late father's watch while he is looking for his father.
