What about movies that happened when a show was still running? The first X-files for example. The animated Transformers movie also took place between seasons 2 and 3, setting up the new status Qou.

Several anime movies as well, such as the recent Spy X Family and several of the Lupin films. I think there's a decent amount of American cartoons (Mostly comedies or 80's Saturday Morning fare) which also have had movies during their TV runs as well. Simpsons and South Park for example.

Star Trek V to Nemesis also ran concurrently with a TV show, with some references (DS9 referenced the TNG movies and vice versa, V and VI feature some TNG transitional hints like Dorn as Colonel Worf, set design etc)

X-Files was an odd duck. A TV show that continued into a movie, that continued BACK into the show.... that continued into a movie, that continued back into a show.

Twin Peaks did it with Fire Walk With Me.

Hopefully this counts, but my choice would be Neon Genesis Evangelion

Yeah, I think the Rebuild movies kind of implied that the TV series and movies happened in some form "before" and this was Shinji's second chance. Or something.

There's also EOE which was kind of both a "Do-over" of the finale with a budget, or an alternate POV (The TV finale happening in Shinji's head, while the movie is what actually happened).

The Simpsons continued on the big screen, not for "one last story" but continued nonetheless.
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

The TOS reboots are kind of an interesting place as they continue Nimoy-Spock's story from his TNG guest role, where he was trying to form a peace between the Vulcans and Romulans, but pretty much reboot everything else via time being altered/forming an alternate universe.

The "Countdown" comic books (Which I think were largely contradicted by Picard) even featured the TNG crew trying to help save Romulus, and the "Jellyfish" being Geordi's design.

Wish the Simpsons had called it a day with the movie and continued every now and again with holiday themed flicks (summer, Halloween, Christmas, valentine's day etc)

Anyone agree with me on THIS?

Aren't the Mission Impossible movies a continuation of the original TV show? John Voight played the Jim Phelps character in the 1st movie which was the same character Peter Graves did on the show.

No, they aren't canon with one another. The whole reason the original cast refused to be part of the film in its early stages was because the original team was meant to be destroyed/disavowed and Jim Phelps would be the villain. So it was retooled into a Tom Cruise vehicle, and they kept the name Jim Phelps for Jon Voigt's character.
