Should Jon be de-aged?

My question is, who's ego is the one preventing Jon from being de-aged sooner? We learned that the only reason we didn't get the Marvel/DC crossovers reprints sooner was solely because of the ego of one person, Ike Perlmutter, even though people on both sides had been advocating for it for years. And once Perlmutter was gone, BAM, reprints.

So who's been standing in the way of what's been best for their business?

Those things aren't really permanent either and are subject to change based on new regimes and market forces. The shadow of the Spider-Marriage has never left the franchise. OMD could be undone once the Marriage Years kids take up majority of the editorial and writing work at Marvel and Sony establishes Miles as a popular teen hero in live action, allowing Peter to age.

Daddy Zeus is around just due to lethargy and Wonder Woman stories not getting much other media love outside of the now defunct DCEU. Unfortunately Gunn seems to be taking inspiration from the New 52 for his Amazons show too so the Zeus origin might stick around longer. But again, that plot point is so deeply antithetical to the entire theme of WW that it's bound to be changed sometime in the future. Right now it's pretty much a non-factor for Diana.

Anyway, back to topic, a fun work around this would be to deage Jon in the present and to have future Teen Jon travel to the 31st Century and team up with LoSH (historically the most queer friendly DC franchise anyway)

The OMD thing is weird. We're going on over 15 years now and they won't just undo it despite the majority of fans wanting it. I chalk this up to editorial stubbornness more than anything else. As for Zeus, I assumed they did. And, yes, technically all of those things could be undone tomorrow if someone decided to just come in and do it. Bucky Barnes was "permanently dead" for 60 years. We still have a Superman/Wonder Woman thread despite that relationship being over for nearly 8 years now.

The reason I'm somewhat sceptical about teen Jon permeance is that nothing around him has caught on despite editorial efforts, you don't see people celebrating or creating artwork around his time on Legion or Soke but you do still with Supersons and if it's managing to retain that level of fan enthusiasm all these years on it'll likely outlive the current regime plans, it's clearly the version of Jon adaptions prefer and that always has a knock-on effect in shaping the comics and wider public perception of the characters going forward.

If DC was willing to give Barbara back the use of her legs despite years as Oracle and what being a paraplegic superhero meant for the wider representation of disabled people in comics I wouldn't put it past them bringing back kid Jon and it wouldn't even be as egregious a case as Jon can still be bi no matter what age he is.

Yes. Damian and Jon should be the same age. DC really had a good thing going there.

They never were the same age. Jon was 10, Damian was 13. Now, Jon is 17-18, and Damian is 14-15. Age gap is the same three years it always was, it's just reversed.

I don't expect Jon to be de-aged any time soon. The Super-Twins were introduced partly to replace his old role I think? Wouldn't make narrative sense either unless they rebooted.

Though Jon does need a new role. Right now he's just stepping on both Clark's and Conner's toes.

Well speaking as a gay man myself (so I guess I outrank you on this one :P ) I can't say I'm aware of these LGBTQ circles of which you speak of but when it comes to gay fanart it usually falls into two categories shipping (mostly drawn by woman) or porn (drawn by actual gay guys).

What I have noticed though is that most shipping art around Jon still by in large revolves around Damian/ Super Sons, I actually once went looking for some SOKE stuff with him and Jay and it was pretty barren by comparison and what did exist definitely had less engagement when it came to retweets and likes in fact ironically I found more with him that one-off character from Lazurus Planet Ash.
