I would have preferred they stuck to his comic book roots but I was ok with his take in the film.

The essence of the character was well-captured.

I liked it. It helped distinguish Namor from Aquaman, and was a better fit with his role in a Black Panther sequel.

Plus, he can still try to seduce Vanessa Kirby.

Didn't need it, but doesn't bother me.

What bothered me was the Skrulls in Captain Marvel with Australian accents. It's just too specific an accent for an alien to have -- unless they lived their entire lives in Australia -- which I don't think was the case.

    Not fan of that.
And really, it had to be that the origin of his name?

They could also called him Tlove.

In the movie: amazing! It ties directly into Black Panther relating to colonialism and surviving by using hidden empires, which also means there are other hidden empires out there.

As a Namor fan, I thought it was a crazy and an awful idea when it was first leaked.

But when I saw it, I thought it worked out well, and was true to the core of the character. Plus, we got the green shorts and ANKLE WINGS and attitude!

I did mourn his seminal place in the Marvel's history being tossed, and all his ties to the MU, especially the Invaders, but that had been tossed out with the first Cap movie. I had a few other nit picks, but over all I loved his MCU version.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

Had Namor been comic accurate, he'd have been accused of being an Aquaman rip-off (even though Namor debuted in the comics first, so Arthur's actually the rip-off character). So I can see why the MCU changed it. Too bad that the actor they cast got into a little bit of trouble after Wakanda Forever's release.
