Default What was Alan Rickman's best role

A great actor, gone too soon. I loved every performance of his that I ever saw. I post the question b/c I honestly can't choose.

    What was his best?

Galaxy Quest was the one I liked the most.

Loved the scene where he's saying Tim Allen's character is losing touch with reality. While he's saying it, he's sitting at home, still wearing his appliances as the character he plays on the television show, "Galaxy Quest".
    Power with Girl is better.

"By Grabthar's Hammer, what a savings."

He was great as an over the top villain - you don't watch Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves for Kevin Costner, or even Morgan Freeman. You watch it for Alan Rickman and Mike McShane.

I doubt it would be the ones most people would say. He did not like that he was known for Harry Potter.

Probably something like Truly Madly Deeply or The Song of Lunch.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

So many good roles. I liked Bottle Shock as well - my wife and mom are both wine lovers, so seeing that film with them was great. As the amateur history buff, I was the only one in the room who knew what the Judgement of Paris was.

I’ve liked everything I’ve ever seen him in, but if I had to pick an absolute favorite I’d have to go w. Hans Gruber by a nose.

One of Alan’s characters ppl never really mention is Dogma’s Metatron. I enjoyed him as the Voice of God.
Fun fact, the famously lackadaisical Jason Mewes memorized his lines AND everyone else’s in Dogma, so as not to piss off Rickman.

    Yeah, he was amazing.

I think his role in Quigley Downunder is under appreciated. Raw psychopathy.

I liked Hans Gruber, but then I liked all his roles; he was that good. So it's a pick 'em for me. Pretty much choose a role and it will be great because he played it.

I saw him on Broadway, riveting as he always was. Afterward, fans waited outside for autographs. He didn't say much but signed for those who asked for about 10 minutes. A fan handed him some Harry Potter cards to sign and he just looked up and said "no".

I default to Galaxy Quest, specifically this entire scene beginning to end:

But he had a lot of good roles in his lifetime. The Sheriff of Nottingham, Marvin (yeah I liked that movie sorry), Metatron, Dr. Alfred Blalock...the list goes on.

His Hans Gruber is an iconic villain in an iconic movie and it's the role that made him an international star.
