Hannibal would delight in the performance, the shifting of roles, and would not want to end it. Batman is performance art of the highest caliber, and Hannibal is an art-lover.

Realistically in terms of getting on people's radar Hannibal doesn't really need to. Like legitimately he's basically a boring normal guy in this setting. There's a decent chance he escapes all notice and then dies in a random Joker attack with nobody the wiser

its not because he's smart. lecter is a psychologist. its his job to get into the heads of others. all he would need to do is talk to either bruce or batman for a short amount of time and he'd figure it out. in "BATB", sherlock holmes was nearly able to suss out who he was just by looking at his costume.

Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane what makes you think he can get out of arkham easily? A place that keeps way worse lock up at least for a little while.
as beadle said, arkham is no tight prison. do you know how many times folks have escaped from, been let out of, or outright taken over arkham? for lecter, it would be almost insultingly easy for him to escape.

he would definitely have a blast with bruce. he'd respect him for having the strength of will to change his life to that level.

honestly speaking, i can see lecter killing the joker himself. just to make bruce's life easier.

Hannibal is just a normal guy, he has no feats for deducing that Bruce is Batman. He’s only dealt with random nobodies and regular cops. In fact there’s a good chance Bruce would figure out that Hannibal is a killer after talking to him. And he actually has feats for doing so.

And kill the Joker? You’ve got to be kidding me, people more competent than Hannibal haven’t been able to do it. Joker isn’t the best hand to hand fighter but he’d destroy Hannibal.

He also has no feats for escaping a place where superhumans are held. It took him many years just to get out of a real life prison. You’re giving way too much credit; if he’s not careful he won’t last a week in Gotham.

He's completely psychoanalyzed people, complete with background information on them, with just a few sentences. He's practically evil Sherlock Holmes.

Lecter might not have Batman levels of encyclopedic knowledge, but he was able to deduct from smell the brands of skin cream and perfume Clarice used, in addition to having photographic memory and persuasion skills. I don't think it's implausible he could deduct Batman's identity, especially if we get past comic book funsies like "why does nobody memorize and look up that mouth and chin?" Even the Stallone Judge Dredd movie figured that out.

Thing is I'm not sure Lecter would win much from directly engaging with Batman and pushing his buttons, unless he thinks the kick out of it and being committed to Arkham would be worth it. He could also decide to look up and avoid Bruce's social circles and make things even easier for himself, knowing at any time he'd be busier with the more colorful crazies.

But he has no feats of psych analyzing a person just as smart as him if not smarter.

people had to warn sterling that lecter can easily get in your head, which he has done.

also, lecter has been noted to be far stronger than his age and stature would suggest.

and one of the best criminal profilers in the FBI couldn't catch him until he actually tried to kill him. so lecter isn't a "normal" guy at all.

the only reason sherlock wasn't able to fully figure out his identity was due to a lack of who bruce wayne was in his own time.

now if sherlock could get all just from just seeing his costume, lecter surely could as well.

Lecter played by Anthony Hopkins in his 60s (after years of incarceration) gutted a guy trying to sneak and pickpocket him and got away with it in a busy street. I haven't watched the Mads Mikkelsen starring Hannibal show (him in his 40s) but I can imagine a composite version of the guy might not be Batman rogue level, but wouldn't worry too much about the supervillain goons running around Gotham.

First, feats for Holmes are not feats for Hannibal and two that is animated Batman which is not canon.

not saying he'd be throwing hands with folks in gotham. just that he's not some frail old man.

i never said those were lecter's feats. i'm just pointing out that someone of sufficient deductive reasoning and observational skills could figure out a lot about batman with little to no information. add to that being psychologist who shares a similar background as batman and it wouldn't be hard for him to deduce batman's identity.
