Default Monkey D. Luffy vs Boa Hancock

In the last stretch of One Piece's pre-timeskip, Luffy wound up having to run away from most of the arc big bads, since he'd gotten to a point where he couldn't keep up to the power curve.

The exception to this is Boa Hancock, who he managed to pacify without ever having to actually fight her.

So, if they had come to blows, could Luffy have defeated the Empress of Amazon Lily? Or would he have been forced to run from her too?

    Interesting question.

She's got haki to ignore his resistances. And while he no sells her Mero Mero Beam she's got other ways of turning him to stone, just hitting him would be good enough really. This helped her one-shot pacifistas so Luffy doesn't want to get hit by this woman.

The question is how her speed holds up. I'm certain she can hang with base Pre-timeskip Luffy. But once he activates Gear Second I don't think she's got the feats to keep up. And we don't know how good her durability is.

like dark said, she can dish out the damage but we don't have a clue how much she can take. if she hits luffy, he's gonna feel it and probably drop after some hitting. now him hitting her? that's the big question.

Am i misssing any special rule here, or why would Boa Hancock not just effortlesly one-shot the same Luffy who struggled even with help against a single pacifista, needed gears against her far weaker sisters, and couldn't even truly use haki yet?

The issue is that while she was busting up pacifistas with ease they all had her registered as a ally and didn't try to attack or defend against her. So it's a good striking feat, but not as good of a combat feat.

While she's generally presented to be pretty high up (she's one of three people that took no damage during he whole Marineford War, can one-shot pacifistas, held-off Smoker with problem, etc.) she doesn't actually have much in terms of concrete speed and durability feats. The one serious opponent we've seen her face is post-timeskip Blackbeard and that didn't go very well for her. So by board rules how she'd do against Luffy is a bit up in the air.

As far as speed feats go, IIRC, She petrifies some canonballs mid air.

She does. But Zoro sliced up a bunch of canonballs mid air so that they wouldn't hit the crew in the early parts of Water 7. He then gets stomp on Kaku and Lucci, whom are later matched by Gear 2.

So for Hancock it's a perfectly decent speed feat. It just doesn't help against Luffy.
