We called them Klackers but I'm not sure what the actual title was. The ones we had were glass or something like glass.

The one I had and I think all of the ones I've seen were made from wood. Wouldn't glass break?

Yes, I don't know if they were glass or some kind of ceramic or plastic, but they could shatter and send pieces all over. That is why they stopped selling them.

My mom handmade klackers for me and my sisters, using craft type of materials. Still have mine somewhere.

Yo yos for mine. They have come in and out as fads over the years. But the reality is, even if you are great at it and have a great yo yo, it is a really dumb thing.

I was pretty good with Yo-Yos and great with Frisbees when I was a kid. Hula-hoops or skipping rope, however, were a different story.

You aren't "sending a message" that the status quo isn't good enough by withholding your vote or voting third party over voting against a candidate that will do legitimate harm to minorities and personal freedoms. The only thing you're doing is I guess making yourself feel good? You certainly aren't going to change anything or make anything better like that.

I wish there was a legitimate third option too, one that really pushed for liberal ideals that would put us on even footing with the rest of the civilized world...but we don't, so the best we can do is support the least bad option and hope we get where we want eventually.
What do you mean? I'm saying I believe in an organized working class over electoral politics. It's not about a "third option" or third party. The lesser of two evils is still evil and young people are simply fed up. We aren't letting ourselves be gaslit by the establishment for yet another election. It's time to stop focusing on electoral politics and get boots on the ground, organize, even peaceful protests like non participation efforts and striking have huge effects. The only meaningful change in America has come from organized people-led movements, not from politicians. It's about putting pressure on those meant to serve you. The only way to effectively put pressure on an elected official is to show them you are capable of not voting for them. And an overwhelming number of Americans are tired of war, they're tired of not having healthcare, they're tired of seeing people living under bridges and struggling to pay for food or for housing. We're too far gone to keep continuously believing in the establishment and the corporate one party state. And no one's saying my view is the correct one, it's just what I and millions of others believe in. "Hope we get where we want eventually" is what liberals have been saying since Clinton, and while it's a comforting thought, there are too many people struggling and dying for me to continue believing in that. Peace and love.

Yikes! I guess I could say that I "participated" in the Hula-hoop and the yo-yo trends, since I technically tried my hand at them. However, I was terrible at both, which quickly killed my interest in them.

Oh, and speaking of dumb trends I could never master, Etch-A-Sketch was the bane of my existence...
(what was the whole point of it? Drawing with a pencil was easier and, generally speaking, better at achieving results...)

    More permanent, too.

Dunno if this counts, but I remember being wild about writing with shiny/shimmering ink back in the day...
