Default What's the Best Depiction of the Greek Gods in TV/Cinema?

I really enjoyed the recent Percy Jackson streaming series. I especially enjoyed its depiction of the Greek Gods, which seemed closer to the source mythology than anything I've seen.

Yeah, they took it easier on Poseidon than he deserves, but otherwise, spot on IMO.

Is there a better one that I should see?

I would say The Clash of the Titans because they were portrayed as noble but also as jealous scheming assholes. They bickered amongst themselves and humans paid the price. Which is pretty accurate from mythology.

Xena and Adventures of Hercules was actually fairly decent.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Yep. Anthony Quinn as Zeus and Kevin Smith as Ares were easily my favorite portrayals

    Jason And The Argonauts (1963)
Things I love: Batman, Superman, AEW, old films, Lovecraft

Grant Morrison: “Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”
