Supposedly John Byrne hated when Jim Lee brought back the blue and yellow when Jim Lee told him like he would be happy. The costume won't keep me away but I still prefer the brown and tan.

I have a strong suspicion we will end up seeing (probably a more modest version of) this in X-Men '97 when they explore Mags and Rogue's shared backstory.

It hardly qualifies as outfit. Rather it's a "state of dress".

NYX may stand for New Young X-Men

If so, I hope it's finally an Academy X/NXM follow-up instead of a roster of all new characters save Laura. That would be overkill on top of the new ones we're getting in Emma and Kate's book.

Isn't New Young a bit repetitive? It's obviously a reference to New York, the book's setting.
But I do hope the New X-men are involved.

With this franchise and its habit of introducing a new generation every decade or even more often, New Young actually makes sense when there are "Old Young" characters like the New Mutants, Gen X and now Academy X

On a more serious note though, I thought along the lines of attaching the New prefix to a pre-existing title like Young X-Men like they've done to other book titles in the past.

I would love that, but knowing Marvel editors they will be a cast formed by another bunch of original new characters that will become background characters as soon as the book gets cancelled and the creators ditch them.

I get what you mean But it would be funny to see the NXM as the "new" Young X-men when they predated them (and some of the YXM were also NXM).
But I think we can all agree that it would be awesome if the Academy X generation gets some much needed representation in NYX.
The original NYX cast certainly doesn't have the same commercial appeal, IMO.
