Nope. The X-Office forgot they gave him a plot. Or his power just adapted to exclude himself from the Fall of X narrative. Its like "Nah, we can skip this. Its fine. We'll catch the next genocide, a few years from now."

Originally, he was resurrected along with Laura and Everett at the end of Hickman's Vault issue. After Duggan took over he basically ignored that and made it so Darwin was still stuck in the Vault and the X-Men launched a rescue mission to recover him. Once inside, they found out that his powers evolved him into a digital life form so he could survive inside the Vault's computer systems. He chose to remain there, although there were hints that something hitched a ride with Forge when he left. That was the last time we saw him.

Wow. Thanks for letting me know. That’s just as bad as Firestar’s story getting sidelined.

The guy turned himself into some digital life / living virus.
I don't see how that could be useful to the X-Men, unless they were fighting AI or something.

But what are the chances of that happening...?

Yeah, I could have sworn we physically see him resurrected with young Synch and Laura.

We can probably ignore it the same way it was ignored to put him back in the vault. He’ll appear randomly in the background or as a side character. Then all will be well.

Darwin sort of became the "God" of The Vault. He evolved and decided to stay in the vault. The writers forgot about him and this entire arc...which is incidentally the last great arc in the X-Men books before it got "done" American Pie style by Gerry Duggan.

The real answer...do we really care?

His current purpose to the 616 is plot device.

Yes, actually. Shockingly, other people care about characters you don't, and are peeved when they're reduced to plot devices instead of the plots literally tailored to their characters being used to advance them as characters.

I think og plan was the Citadel incorporate Darwin's DNA to evolve the Children to post humanity. We had a blink of it in Inferno.
But then Duggan destroyed this plot.

    Every character is someone’s favorite.
