I wonder when that Hermes Press Popeye visual history book is coming out. They've kept soliciting a release date and pushing it back for like 3 years now.

Jason Statham as live action Popeye is the casting I didn’t know I needed.

I mean he already played a tough seaman fighting giant sharks in the Meg movies, and he kinda Popeyed up during the Crank movies. This is the kind of nuts movie that could work with him.

Not a flop but studio was expecting even bigger numbers as it was disney and paramount who teamed up to make it and dragonslayer. Not a dud however. It did make money.
