How about they get their own book. I could think of several story lines they could go trough with out other X-Men cluttering up the scenery.
who would write it? I still think Colossus is one of the hardest X-men to write properly. Guggenheim has mostly just had him as a one note plot device. Even Whedon struggled to find a voice, reverting to stilted pseudo-Russian syntax. The only person I've felt ever wrote him well was Claremont, and I don't think he's a big fan of the pairing at this point.
It seems we always see the "good soldier", but never the "soul of a poet".

They're getting married?! What the H!? I'm not a fan of this, but I take pleasure in knowing that Bendis crapped his pants somewhere upon hearing the news.
Issue #1 - Honeymoon in ?. But an up and coming super team of unknowns (a band of wanabes) catch wind of them being there and ask for their help, it turns out that one of their own has gone rogue. An experiment gone wrong to gain more power has turned him into a monstrous beast. The creature feeds off the life force of others and has been kidnapping people. They go and clash with the creature. It turns out that just the presence of powerful mutants makes him stronger, as he starts to feed on them! This makes it hard for Kitty to phase, and Peter to stay in metal form. They have to keep focused. They eventually win and free the captives. But a mysterious figure shows up to free the monster at the last moment.
Issue #2 - They set out to find out who took the monster. It turns out to be the powerful ? Who plans on using the monster to make himself more powerful.
I have no appreciation for such so-called "writing".
