Wonder how they'll adapt the novel, which the classic Wolfgang Peterson film did mostly the first half while the sequel-with a totally different cast-the sequel did the other half, although it's generally considered pretty bad....and then there's the third one....

Kind of surprised given Ende's interest in Japan and vice versa there doesn't seem to have been any major manga or anime adaptations.

You know, this would be kind of right up Guillermo Del Toro's alley.

Yeah, but I think Del Toro could really capture the spirit of the original in a modern context.

Pan's Labyrinth was practically his demo reel for directing The NeverEnding Story.

Other directors...I guess Burton? Brad Silberling?

I'd put forward David Lowery as well.

Burton can't direct his way out of a paper bag these days. Spike Jonze, Ari Aster, Dean Fleischer Camp, Ana Lily Amirpour, Ryan Stevens Harris, Colin West, Ruben Ostlund, Sam de Jong, Adamma Ebo, and John Patton Ford are among my contendors

I kind of wonder if a future attempt would sort of have a "Ready player one" or "Wreck it Ralph" approach, since Fantasia is supposed to be a similar world, but with books.

There's a claim that the Ivory Tower sequence from the original film has a bunch of cameos from Star Wars and Disney characters but honestly the figures there are either kind of vague or altered too much to be recognizable I'm not really sure about that.

Deep Roy's character and his snail looks like he could come from Wonderland though.

Wonder if they'll do a new version of the song. Limahl's voice seems a little rough these days.

Alan Oppenheimer is still around, maybe he could return to voice Falkor and others.

Of Del Toro's regulars, I can kind of see Christoph Waltz as the bookstore guy. Think his general acting/voice would be wrong for the Wolf villain though.

    David Bradley as Endywook?

Can't wait for that first teaser trailer where they will play the Neverending Story theme in a slow, melancholic key with a child singing it in soprano.

    You know it's gonna happen.

Vague/altered as to not get sued into oblivion, yes. But it was them lol

Time to tap in Joe Milner.

Yeah and for trailer two we only need a rendition of Swamp of Sadness.
