We don't know what exactly is happening here, so we have to wait to be sure.

Either way, if Peter get Goblin's power PLUS his spider powers, then he should be stronger than the Green Goblin himself. Pretty sure Norman will be terrified of Spider-Goblin, especially when he beat him at his own game.

It reminds me of that arc years ago where Paul Jenkins wrote Norman kidnapping Peter and trying to get him to take the Goblin Serum, to become the next Goblin. Well Norman ol' boy, you kinda get your wish, and you may seriously end up regretting it.

I don't care for anything John Byrne did with Scarlet Witch and Vision in his West Coast Avengers run. It also had Magneto reverting to a purely villainous characterisation with not even an attempt at handwaving at his redemption arc in X-Men. (Presumably Byrne did that at least as much in order to thumb his nose at Claremont as out of a general principle that two-dimensional megalomaniac villains should stay two-dimensional megalomaniac villains.)

That happened throughout the Acts of Vengeance event and culminated in New Mutants #75.
