    Default Lois Lane's 1986 series

DC has an interesting article about this on their website. I still haven't read this but I do want to. I understand it's collected in the "Greatest Detective Stories Ever Told" collection. This would be considered one of the "last" pre-Crisis story coming out only a couple months before MOS.

It was implied off and on in the later pre Crisis years that Lois knew Clark was Superman.
I feel like this gives a taste for what a more mature and sophisticated pre Crisis universe could've become.

Kind of makes me wish COIE didn't need to happen so we could see how the stories in this universe would have progressed.
No matter how many reboots, new origins, reinterpretations or suit redesigns. In the end, he will always be SUPERMAN

Part of the reason they did COIE was because the stories weren't progressing.

Nice reminder of how much I hate Pre-Crisis Lana (About the only thing I like about Post-Crisis Superman is that Lana is nice) and anchorman Clark.

Well, remember that Lois always knew, she just couldn't prove it.
After dating in the sixties, Lois and Superman broke up in the seventies. From Superman 296 (Feb 1976) to 314 (August 1977), Lois and Clark were a couple. 314 ends ambiguously with

While I always kind of liked Lois, these two issues really are what made me love her so much. It is a shame that DC has never collected these in any kind of inexpensive and independent way.

You know that this was an editorial mandate. Maybe if the relationship had actually been allowed to precede, the reboot wouldn't have been necessary.

Fascinating! Need to check this out.

Does Superman appear at all, or is this pure 100% 'street-level'?

I suppose maybe this stuff could be set in the same continuity as the DKR universe, which I've broadly considered to be a possible future of the Pre-Crisis/Earth One continuity. Or the Earth-1985 that was revealed during Doomsday Clock.

Supposedly he doesn't appear at all. Except as Clark, obviously.
