    Default Collecting Wonder Woman

A thread for all things related to collecting Wonder Woman - comics, games, statues and ornaments, clothes etc.

I thought we might use this as a space to
    - talk about our relationship to collecting Wonder Woman stuff
    - share our collections or favourite finds
    - talk about things we're hunting for
    - exchange links for new things we've seen
    - help eachother out with gaps in our collections
    - talk about things we'd love to see

To kick things off, my own relationship to collecting when it comes to Wonder Woman is primarily comics, but also occasionally action figures.

Both kicked off when I was little and lost my Kenner Super Powers Wonder Woman action figure. By that point they were extremely hard to come by in the UK, so my dad started taking me to specialist comic markets and suppliers to find one. Along the way I started collecting comics - initially focusing on Bronze Age Diana because she most closely resembled the Lynda Carter iteration I loved watching on TV, but also the Perez era.

Once I completed my collection of Volume 2 comics, and the majority of the post-12-labours era Bronze Age single issues, I became more selective and stick mostly to single issues of runs I really like, and the Omnibuses and tpbs. A copy of Perez's first issue that he signed for me is probably my prized single issue.

With action figures I'm more selective. When they issued that first DC Direct Diana I was in my mid teens and couldn't believe they'd finally made another action figure. Since then I've managed to get a loose version of the Kenner I lost, and picked up a bunch of other Dianas that I like. I think the Mezco version from a few years ago is probably my favourite.

Oh, and I have a little tradition of trying to pick up an issue or collection of Wonder Woman in the local language whenever I go on holiday. So far I've only managed Spanish, Italian and French, but always looking for more!

Detective Comics Comics, I beg you, please re-edit Eric Luke's run.

Not that I'm a dan, but it really is my only step left to have all Wonder Woman comics from 1986 to 2024

Also, start doing the Bronze Age.

I have most of the Wonder Woman runs I want in trade (Perez trades, Rucka trades, Simone omnibus, Jimenez omnibus, Golden Age reprints, and miscellaneous stuff) and have become a bit more selective now of what I pick up in trade.

On and off when it comes to action figures, I have quite a few but have only really picked up a few McFarlane stuff because he largely doesn't make much I'm interested in. At at least his 7-inch stuff, I quite like the Superpowers redos.

Probably my most "valuable" piece of WW thing I own is a signed Historia copy by DeConnick.

I started a thread specifically about WW action figures. I guess this can be a companion.

Most of my WW figures are in storage, but going from memory I have:

    DC Direct

Wonder Woman (1999) with Perez style axe and shield. It's very lame by today's standards.
Silver Age Wonder Woman/Wonder Girl set (felt cheated because they didn't feature Donna in her actual Silver Age outfit)
    Ares (DC Direct)
    Kingdom Come Wonder Woman
Kingdom Come Wonder Woman in armor
    Golden Age/JSA Wonder Woman
    Dodson Wonder Woman
    Dodson Diana Prince
Dodson Donna Troy as Wonder Woman
    Dodson Circe
    Donna Troy as Troia (starfield)
Donna Troy as Wonder Girl (Infinite Crisis)

    DC Universe
    Wonder Woman
    Donna Troy as Wonder Girl
    Ares

The only figure I wanted that I was unable to find at retail is Artemis in her WW outfit from DC Universe.

A figure I'd love to have that was never produced is Lyta Trevor Hall as Fury.

Aside from actual comics books (have all of the Perez, Byrne, Deodato issues. From pre-Crisis -- have some issue from the Thomas/Colan years -- and going back earlier -- the first appearance of Nubia.

For collectins, have three Diana Prince trades and the 12 Labors trade.

I love how you put all of the figures on the shelf near the Wonder Woman books!

I'm pretty sure that nothing that late in v1 has ever been collected and reprinted, sadly. Do you have the single issues?

When I tell you the effort I had to go to in order to get that recent McFarlane classic Diana, and even that I did through gritted teeth at his tired attitudes to making figures of women characters. Ridiculous. I keep hoping Mafex will take on a comic Diana. Feels like its time.

Same. I try not go for the really expensive collector figures but McFarlane being the only game in town for Wonder Woman figures makes them more tempting. So many garbage WW alt-variants and D-listers no one but he wanted before we could even get a decent classic WW figure.

I don't expect him to make another WW figure until the video game comes out
