“Highly talked about” is certainly one way of putting it.

After this run, that solicit feels incredibly unappealing. Pete's been emotionally tortured for the past 2 years, why would I wanna read about MORE torture?
Spider-Man works in mysterious ways, Shelly. And wherever he is, he loves you.

I'm guessing after the Green Goblin arc we end on a Tombstone arc that probably wraps up Wells' run as well as the Jackpot/Paul stuff.

We can only hope for a better run after this.

I agree 100%. The sad thing about ASM is it is not just Wells who is guilty. I made a comment during the Spencer run referring to Spider-Man getting killed by the Stacy Twins over and over as “Torture Porn.” I simply do not understand why Lowe and Marvel enjoy bad things happening to Peter. He is their most popular and profitable character and they treat him like dirt.

I think, and this is just me... yes, you can have some bad things happen to Peter. Okay, fine... but you have to balance it out with good things too. You have to find that balance without going too far in one direction or another. Right now, we've had more than enough of the former, time to let him have some happiness.

What type of "happiness" are we looking for?

At the moment, he has a job with Norman that seems to pay well, so that's a positive (at least for now).

He's not at odds with other heroes like he was at the beginning of the Wells run.

Aunt May is stable and doing her own thing - he doesn't have to worry about her.

    Randy Robertson is recovering.

The NY superhero limitation is repealed.

I'm sure there are other positives. It's not completely unbalanced.

It's kind of a weird bias everyone has when looking at work they don't like... the problems become exaggerated rather than taken aboard with everything else.

The problem with 616 Spider-Man is that I don't think you could do him justice right now.
You can either make the story about Peter Parker, of which it's hard to find new and engaging stories to come up with, or make it about Spider-Man and risk losing aspects of the supporting cast.

The reason why the recent Ultimate series is doing so well is A. It's a clean slate, you can do anything and adapt anything into it... and it would be fine.
    B. It's not going to be the Spider-man we read for the next 50 years.
At most, we are looking between 5-10 years, meaning there's an ending in sight for this variation of the Character.

With 616, Marvel have to look at what will sell now, and where the Character will be in 50 years time.
It's a thankless task to be in, and while I do think Nick Lowe has his issues, I do feel like he is being pulled in many different directions, probably more than other comics get.

??? where is that coming from? It's not in the solicit.

Anyway, 50/50% its the final arc tbh. Would be funny if Tombstone/Sin 6/Goblin all descend on petey at the same time. That's one way to use up the oversized #50.

I mean, we saw years ago in Civil War something that genuinely SHOULD have change Pete's FOREVER.

And we know where THAT went...

Makes it hard to take the IP seriously now.

Yeah, they'll put that genie back in the bottle one way or another.

Didn't he just quit the Norman job?
