I juat reread Batman Gothic by Grant Morrison and Klaus Jansen. This is hands down one of my favorite stories of all time. The atmosphere the art the story, I love everything about it.

I also happen to have the issues and all 5 issues are in really great condition. I don't collect issues so they are left over from when I was collecting in the mid 2000s.

I loved them so much I was thinking of a good way to display them. I was thinking maybe a very long horizontal frame would be awesome, placing all five issues next to each other. It would be kind of long but I just feel it might look cool.

Anyone done anything similar of have any ideas of frames I could use?

I don't know where you are (US or other country), but if you're in the US, you could go to a frame store or a craft store and not only check out what they have, but also have something custom made for you. For instance, I don't know if the craft store Michaels is nationwide or not, but they do custom framing there and offer promotions or coupons throughout the year. You could bring in the issues, get everything measured out, and then have that made up. Or you could possibly try to DIY the frame yourself.

If you're looking for something off the shelf, I doubt you're going to find something in those particular dimensions. But a number of places sell the individual comic book sized frames, so you could just get 5 of those and hang them next to each other.

Thanks for your email. Funny enough I am an American but now live in Europe. My sister back in the US just started working at Michaels! Let me check with her but with shipping its probably not an option. I didnt even think about framing each issue individually but that could work. I just imagined in my head a huge frame. Ill have to look at some local framing shops.

Just take them to any picture framing shop, they will mount them, put a border around them and then build a frame, it won't cost s great deal, I considered doing it myself, but as I have too many movie and music posters framed, my wife wasn't having any of it

BAM! Found a in-the-wrapper-and-cardboard brand new Hon lateral file cabinet that fits beautifully under a window for the Heavy Metal collection. The man-cave is almost ready for display. Just gotta dump a small number of comics on ebay and find somebody to take a mid 90s-early 00s Playboy run off my hands and it's decorating time.

Here's something I thought about doing - Frameless picture frames.

    wireless pic frames.jpg

I think they're from Ikea. Found this idea in Robot 6's shelf porn.
Current Pulls for DC/Vertigo: Batman, Justice League
Image: Manifest Destiny, East of West, Low, The Wicked & The Divine, Injection, Tokyo Ghost
    Valiant: Harbinger/Imperium
Other: Letter 44, Lady Mechanika, Tarot

That's actually a good idea. I have some of these style of frames for larger posters. Usually they fit the poster exactly but in this case I imagined either a black or dark blue border or matting behind the comics.

Last question, should I use the actual issues or should I make color copies? If I did copy what kind of paper should I use?

Depends on your sentimental value. Framing the issues could cause some damage or fading. The five issue run is going for $15-20 on ebay; you could pickup a second set and hang those.

Just changed my omnibuses from horizontal to vertical on the shelf for space purposes. I did the post it note thing to stop the blocks from sagging. Took way longer than I thought so they started out perfectly sized for each book and ended up good enough-ish ha ha.

HAhahahaha. That's something I'm sure I would have done back when I still collected floppies. Nice, man.

    hey all!
Silly little question: how do you all keep your collection clean?
Not just the books but statues and action figures as well.
I tried the compressed air duster sprays but the ones I got from Poundland ran out very quickly and weren't too effective. Other brands seem unreasonably pricey (it's basically just air).
    Any tips?

The only real good solution to keeping books (and statues, etc.) as clean as possible is shelving that is completely sealed with a backing and doors on the front - so pretty much the opposite of an Ikea Kallax. A solid backing and doors will keep out more dust and bugs than anything else. Obviously if you want to see the contents you need glass/transparent doors.

Otherwise, like anything else in the home, you just have to dust your shelves regularly. I'd hesitate to use compressed air since if you might inadvertently frost something over. Not that it will last more than a few seconds or probably do that much damage, but why take the risk?
