I...actually was gonna ask what it was, but I decided to do some wiki instead.

Basically, the question is "What if you had the power to kill anyone you wanted on Earth?".
    Well, I wouldn't use it.
I don't think being a self-appointed judge, jury and executioner work in the long run. Not in any modern society anyway.

I'd rather have the power to see people stand trial for their actions, especially the ones who are able to evade the system thanks to wealth/corruption/etc...

I've thought about it and I know what I'd do. I'd make one Death Note, which would kill anyone and everyone who ever tried to use the Death Note in the future just as they started to use it. Thus sealing its evil power forever.

Why does a lack of belief in an afterlife make you more likely to use it?

Fear of eternal torture? That's the one I'm familiar with for murder, but I stopped being a Christian at 8 so maybe I'm off on this. Think there's a repentance loophole.

Tough question. I would like to think I could restrain myself from using it but it would be pretty tempting for some of these dirtbags, like child rapists and such

If you dont use it, then what do you do with it ? If you give/throw it away, you could be wrecking someone else's life. And it could backfire on you and you could be the one getting killed by it

If you decide to hold on to it so that it doesnt fall into the wrong hands, eventually you will be tempted to use it. And if you use it once, then you will probably want to do it again. And then you could end up using it a lot.

It would be better if you could time travel with it and go back into the past and kill the really bad guys before they do their most evil stuff. At least you know what they are capable of and it makes the decision easier. But then that opens up and entirely different can of worms

I'm not immune to corruption, so my answer is possibly yes, I will.

I feel the same, I can have some simpaty with a drug dealer or a thief, but child molesters?never. sometimes watching the news is so infuriating , I wish I could pay $ to kill some of them with my own hands.

Using the Death Note to kill someone bigger than a criminal could be much worse, like, kill a dictator and you have his 3 top generals in a clusterf#$@ of a civil war to be the next number 1 guy.

Or perhaps because someone named themselves "no longer of any consequence"?

Yeah, that's the problem with my time travel scenario. You could end up changing the future to something much worse
