Default Bruce Banner & The Illuminati (spoilers)

I'm still flabbergasted over the recent Avengers/ New Avengers issue and the fact that the Hulk joined the Illuminati.

The Hulk, the Green Goliath, joining the very group of people/ friends that banished/exiled him from earth for a year and nearly got Manhattan destroyed when he came back for revenge.

Does anyone think this is a good idea, especially given the various Hulks in Banner's mind ?

As Hulk and/or Avengers fans what do you think of this ?

I think it creates a very interesting situation, which is the point.

I can see the rationale of Banner going along with this... he's a guy that thinks along the same terms as a Reed or a Tony. But I can also see him POSSIBLY being a big problem for the Illuminati down the line.

With him it can go either way, and I think that's part of whats makes his presence interesting.

I like him joining the Illuminati. It makes sense since he's smart enough to know the dangers that the incursions pose. It'll make some good drama and I see him being a huge problem later on if they have to destroy a populated world.

Even when you consider the words "World Breaker" in his name ?

Don't really think it will work out very well with him being on the team for the long term but it sure will be fun as hell to watch.

He's not like the other members. He has a conscience.

You saw how he looked when he asked Iron Man if they actually destroyed a populated planet. Would he eventually agree to do it? Maybe but we'll see some good drama from it.

Even Stark indicated he's not entirely sure if he could do it. So it's not just Banner who is necessarily a question mark in that regard. But I do think especially given his own personal experience with the Illuminati he's the most likely of the group to not pull the trigger if it came to that.

What wouldn't Banner agree to the Illuminati's methods, if he's agreed to join the team? The Illuminati can't be that naive to think they can control the Hulk without Banner being on side. Banner must have convinced Tony Stark that he was okay with how the Illuminati were doing things, wouldn't he?

Well, it isn't the WHOLE group.

Hank and T'challa and Maximus didn't banish him.

Plus... now he can keep an eye on stuff.

Namor didn't banish him either, so he knows he has at least 1 strong ally.

Stark, Black Bolt, Reed, and Strange.

    All four wanted him gone.

I hope he has sense enough to not condone wanton murder. He may also be looking at a way to purge himself of the Hulk(s) within, or a way to keep them in check with an infinity gem(s).

Another wrinkle in this alliance to consider is what his reaction to Cap's exile from the group will be. You know he'll think will they do that to him if he disagrees with their decisions.
