I couldn't care less about canon as far as Vulcan is concerned. I refuse to accept, recognize, or acknowledge anything that involves that guy. The groundwork had already been laid for a third Summers brother, and all they had to do was pick up where the 90's left off . . . . . but then they piled more baggage on Xavier's lap with a secret team of murdered students and a generic Superman lite that they sold as a third Summers brother. The whole retcon was an absolute mess. As far as I'm concerned, Adam is still the third Summers brother.

I couldn't agree with you more. They defiled the "Bible" of X-Men comics to me (Giant Size X-Men). In one of the podcasts I do (see the link in my signature), I discussed how insanely impossible the retcon that they developed to explain Vulcan would be. The reason that Scott and Alex, or anyone knew, that they had a brother named Gabriel is because Professor Xavier wiped their minds? First, this certainly does not sound like something Professor Xavier would have done, even back then. After all, if it was such a short time (less than a day?) since Thunderbird died, just after that - why didn't Professor wipe everyone's mind clear of Thunderbird's death as well, if he had every intention of hiding his failures? But more so - if he wiped Scott and Alex's mind, and wiped everyone's mind who knew - Professor Xavier would had to wipe the minds of EVERYONE connected to Gabriel's team (parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, teachers, friends, etc). That seems like a pretty freaking impossible task to track down and alter THAT many minds.

I couldn't put into words, how much I despised Vulcan. (I am sure if you find posts from someone named "Adam-X" or "Tawmis" about how much they hate Vulcan - it's all me!)

Now, I will say this. All of that aside, when they did the whole Realm of Kings, and all that - I actually really enjoyed that storyline. Of course, I read it as if Vulcan were a new character (because I still refuse to accept that they would tamper with Giant Size X-Men #1 like that) - and reading it like that, allowed me to enjoy it. All the way up until, you know, he killed Corsair (and then my hatred returned, for this Vulcan character!) For a long time, I feared Adam-X would be buried and forgotten - and for the longest time, he really was! But then during Dark Reign, he suddenly made a rather random appearance. Then he appeared (no real action of dialogue), in S.W.O.R.D. a few times. Then he appeared in Fear Itself when the X-Men try to stop Juggernaut (and he's the only one that does any damage - though it does make the situation worse, but still!) So it was nice, seeing him back in comics again - and being acknowledged. (His dialogue in Dark Reign or whatever, was horribly "Bro-tastic" - but I could forgive the dialogue, just thankful to have the character back!) And of course, if you're reading the solo CYCLOPS series, you know Corsair is back (newest issue #3, explains how).

Well, there's no "confirmation" - however, if you read the stories, they made it PAINFULLY clear it's Adam-X who was intended to be the Summers brother. That said, in Captain Marvel, they do acknowledge that Adam-X is related to D'Ken and he is the actual rightful heir to the throne (this is before all the Realm of Kings madness with Vulcan). So there is a written connection to the fact he is related to D'Ken, Lilandra, Deathbird, etc.

Vulcan was the reason I stopped following X-Men comics. Can't say the same is true of Adam the X-Treme. Just standard course for Marvel, insisting on characters you perceive to be lame as being lame. D-Man, Grizzly and Trapster have all being in more good stories than Vulcan has even been in

Okay, seriously, I get you don't like Adam-X/X-Treme, but are you going to sit there and seriously say that Vulcan is better? Vulcan is just a God-mode Sue. And a sloppy retcon too. Adam-X has what? An embarrassing backwards cap?

However, Tom doesn't appear to be a fan...

A shame he doesn't answer some of these questions SERIOUSLY for the fans of this character who might just be wanting some kind of legitimate answer.

Cool to see more people asking about Adam-X. I am curious what has caused the recent rise in questions and interest! It makes me happy, even if Tom B dislikes the character.
