Default Zero Year chapters & proper Death of the Family reading order HELP!

    1. Anyone know the correct timeline reading order for Death of the Family?, not the time the issues were released but the exact timeline order for a smooth read.

    2. Anyone know the chapter titles and what issues are in those chapters for Zero Year?

    3. Issue wise, where does Batgirl Annual #1 fit into it's series?

    Thanks!

You just mean the regular reading order for DotF? This is the one I used:

Prelude to the Event - These titles are Optional
    000a Detective Comics #1 (2012)
    000b Suicide Squad #6
    000c Suicide Squad #7
    001 Batgirl #13
    002 Catwoman #13
    003 Catwoman #14

Chapter 1: The Joker is Back
    004 Batman #13
    005 Batman and Robin #13
    006 Batman and Robin #14
    007 Suicide Squad #14
    008 Suicide Squad #15

Chapter 2: The Jokes on You
    009 Batman #14
    010 Detective Comics #15
    011 Batgirl #14
    012 Batgirl #15
    013 Batgirl #16
    014 Batman #15
    015 Batman and Robin #15
    016 Batman and Robin #16
    017 Detective Comics #16
Detective Comics #17 (Optional, Highly Recommended)
    018 Nightwing #15
    019 Nightwing #16
020 Red Hood and The Outlaws #15
    021 Teen Titans #15
022 Red Hood and The Outlaws #16
    023 Teen Titans #16
    024 Batman #16
    025 Batman #17

    Epilogue: The Last Laugh
026 Red Hood and The Outlaws #17
027 Red Hood and The Outlaws #18

As for Zero Year, as far as I know it's divided in three sections called Secret City, Dark City and Savage City. It runs from Batman's main title issue #21 - #27 and #29 - #33. With most of the other main DCU titles issues #25 being tie-ins to Zero Year

As for the Batgirl Annual #1, I'm not entirely sure but I think that still fits in the Court of Owls storyline. But I might be wrong there.

    Hope this helped =)

Yeah that route looks like it's the proper reading for Death in the Family. Thanks for the help!

So I guess Batgirl Annual #1 could take place at the end of the Night of Owls arc, right before Batgirl's Knightfall arc.

By the way, wouldn't this question be better off in the SEPARATE Batman sub-section of the Forum, rather than here under the more general "DC Comics" heading?

As I read it in trades, I found there wasn't really many continuity problems reading Batman #13-16 then the order that's in the Joker: Death of the Family book, and then closing everything with #17.

The only problems to be aware of are like Suicide Squad occurs largely before the event, setting it up, and the Detective Comics issues I just can't quantify at all. Other than that, all the tie-ins (in my opinion) are best read in chunks as per their title, and the order of them really doesn't matter much.
