Superman being called the Captain/Quarterback of the football team? Why do people still do it?

the QB/Captain title is definitely used in a negative sense, at least when it comes to Superman. I'm not familiar with American Football (I play real football :P) but Quarter Backs get more attention than they deserve, no? I guess you could say that in the same way, Superman gets more praise than other heroes in the DC universe. Nothing wrong with that.

It's just when they change his personality to match that of a jock that it gets annoying. If we were to go with high school archetypes, Clark is clearly the class presjdent/popular guy that you really want to hate but can't because he's a genuinely great guy who invites you to sit with him and his friends during lunch when everyone else might shun you.

Bruce is the typical rich kid/bad boy with a heart. Diana is the ridiculously amazing exchange student who outshines every single person around her without even trying.
