Quoted for truth. To this day, it still moves me.

Along the lines of the death of 355 in Y the Last Man, the death of Ampersand was more moving than most of those listed.

He has the amazing power to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. If he were around in the 30th Century, he'd be a member of the Legion of Substitute Heroes.

Another memorable death was Tonantzín from Beto's Heartbreak Soup story in L&R.

Wait, have we seriously gone a whole page with nobody mentioning Morpheus?

And of course, Stinky's death in Peter Bagge's HATE was completely out of left field, and a 'WTF?!!?' moment for me....

Yes. There are no better creators in comics at creating profoundly effecting emotional moments than Los Bros Hernandez.

Jeez, yeah. I can't believe that didn't occur to me, either. It wasn't shocking so much as inevitable, but man, was it memorable.

Yeah, I guess the "shocking" bit made it slip our minds. I mean, they kept saying for like a year, "Dream dies at the end of this story." But yeah, such a great scene. Pretty much that whole issue is beautiful work from Gaiman and Hempel. I still tear up every time Matthew asks Dream to say "Please."

It may not be memorable to some, but to long time comic fans, this one holds up....

I agree with most of the additions added here and criticisms of the list. I thought the CBR description of ASM 700 with "Fans, even many of the more jaded ones who had refused to buy into the previous death, were quickly convinced that Peter was gone." was odd. Not a single person I know thought Spidey was dead or staying dead. Anyway, I was pretty surprised by Damian Wayne's death along with the others listed (that I hadn't heard about it ahead of time at least).

The death of Steve Rogers as he was killed by a sniper. It was as shocking as it was unexpected.

I know..that was crazy..but Bagge handled it so well.
For a 'comedy' book, it was a book that had a lot of well done heavy moments.

Oh, absolutely. The stories they have told over the past..wow, 30 some years!...I am old...are textbook examples or HOW to properly tell a story in a graphic format.
For me, they surpass Eisner in that regard.
