I never hated it (the scenery always popped for me, especially in the duo tone splash pages); but I used to feel like Lynn Varley's colors were the only thing holding the art together without Klaus Jansen's inking. Last year I got the Ronin Gallery edition on sale and barely expected to like it. I've since done a complete turnaround and think the art is brilliant. It's definitely more stylized than much of his work during that period, but, unlike the later Sin City volumes, it's not loose or imprecise.

I second that, Ronin Gallery Edition is awesome, Miller art explodes in each pages.

They are the smae height IIRC. Both 20 inches. Avengers has more than 4 times as many pages though so it's even more massive.
