Besides Spidey has far more memorable moments with the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man/Fantastic Four by Christos Gage and Spider-Man and Human Torch By slott.
    Not the new xmen though.

Johnny and Peter seemed like Peter clown days when he was a loser who went with the flow or didn't have to apply himself because Johnny and him were kids while the grown ups were doing serious stuff. Now he's more experienced and savvy as a man with his own business and while childish is still taken seriously by his peers. I find Carol and Jessica better bffs because like peter a tune to his sense of humor without being a frat boy. And back to the xmen, kitty pryde and Peter should also be close friends.

And what did Peter teach Hope, exactly?

That's the essence of it right there. Peter is a family oriented type of guy. He fits right in with the FF.

Its obvious the people that want Spider-Man on the X-men is purely popularity reasons much like how everyone wanted him on the Avengers badly.

Its called progression, yes Peter did act like jerk to the Human Torch and vice versa back than it was a rivalry but as years progressed they have had the most memorable of team ups. In some cases the two's friendship is opposite Spider-Man would act the more mature of the two and Johnny the less serious. Spider-Mans friendships are good with Spider-Woman but nothing amazing just, okay. Well good new you can read Spider-Man teaming up with Kitty in the pages of the Ultimates comics back issues.

i would have to go with FF, he fits in with them more as a family than a team. I wouldn't want to see Spidey join fulltime, just spend more time/go on more missions with them.

    None of the above?

The X-Men don't work because Spider-Man is not a mutant and the X-Men are about Mutants. That series has been so successful by not just being about superheroes, but about dealing with the social themes that they represent or people interpret them to represent.

The Fantastic Four don't work because.....well first of all they don't work because the Fantastic Four are lame. I know, some people love them, that's great, but they just are. And even if they weren't, the big problem is that despite being in ASM#1....they don't really belong in the same type of world as Spider-Man. Spider-Man has always been about more grounded stories, about a man off the street who just happens to have superpowers. He doesn't have billions to rely on, he doesn't deal with universal quests for power, he lives his life and deals with things as they come. The Fantastic Four....are not about that. They're about the most opposite of that you can think of. They're about traveling to outer space and the microverse. Exploring alternate and negative dimensions and fighting off giant purple planet eaters. Their style is so radically different that they just don't fit together. You can't just be the kid from Queens if last weekend you were Emperor of Dimension T.

Spider-Man doesn't belong on any team. The Avengers were the closest, and even then, no, he doesn't need it. He stands alone, and that's just fine.

Really lame is the best excuse you can come up with. Pretty outdated excuse. But to each is own.

When it comes to either the X-Men or FF. Peter is very close with the FF to where he's like a member of the family. As for the X-Men, he knows what's it's like to be feared & hated to where he's almost treated like a mutant. So he'll be able to fit in with either. It's just that some want Peter to go back to his solo hero days, however he's been part of a team for almost 10 years.

Other than spidey always being alone this is all that needs to be said.

People often like seeing their favorite characters interacting with one another. That's often what it comes down to.

This is true. You can find whole threads on this board that are basically about this.
