While Don M comes off aswell meaning person most of his BP stories comes of as a torture porn, regardless of how liberal/well meaning he tried to be.. And I have no issues in re-reading or reading what I haven't..

    Ha! That's it!

On the next page don't some embassy guys walk up to BP and are like, "My prince, where did you wander off to?" I might be remembering that wrong...

Well...calling it torture porn is a little extreme.

As a "newish" reader, when you read it for the first (five lol) times, it comes off as that almost.

The amount of punishment is just... unreal. Its kind of shocking as you don't get comics made like that anymore.

As I read more and more older comics (lets say, anything older then Marvel Knights era as "old"), I have slowly learned to appreciate them for what they are. They are different... its like when watching ESPN Classic of a playoff game from the 70's or something. Its still basketball its just... so different than todays stuff.

I wouldn't put any of Don's stuff in my top 10 or anything, but I can appreciate Panther's Rage at least.

    Now KKK and Prey... bleh

Not that I can see. Certainly not the next page. There's a guy being interrogated by the police who said something like "where's your Panther now," but it reads less meta-textual and more a segue to showing T'Challa with Monica's family.

That dialogue is ... not good. Thankfully, I'll probably skip this story and just power through it on Unlimited, if at all.

I'm a little confused on the timeline for that (is this during the time Shuri is the Black Panther or no?), but I probably only have myself to blame since I didn't read last issue.

I have a question: I read Priest's complex run a long time ago and. I may have forgotten some details. Was the plot with T'Challa's brain tumour resolved? I assumed it was just ignored by modern writers.

This is immediately following the Hickman scene where the DM break away from T'challa (immediately following infinity) and Shuri bans him from Wakanda.

Which makes all of this weird... Why wouldn't they, you know.... serve the Queen now?

But yeah, this has some of the poorest writing ive seen at Marvel. Now, I skipped CM Punks' Drax series and I could see that being worse sense, ya know, Gay actually writes for a living. Anyway wanna compare?

Folami seems interesting at least. There is no way the DM would all be a hive mind and break away because 4 of them decided to.....

It hasn't been resolved. I'm not sure if anyone has brought it up since Priest (I certainly don't think Hudlin would have brought it up). Some assumed that the recent scene with T'Challa injecting something was going to be a reference to that, but it ended up being reprogrammed Doom nanobots instead.

I wouldn't say it's gone so much as unresolved. It's just a thing that will only get brought up if they think it'll contribute to the story, but I wouldn't presume it's been retconned away either.

It did seem as though the Dora's continued to serve T'Challa even after Shuri became Black Panther though. During Maeberrys run on the book they continued to largely train with him to battle Doom. And at least SOME of the Dora's helped to keep T'Challa's secret about working with Namor and the Illuminati from Shuri. Maybe it's the whole brides in training aspect of the whole thing, but they seemed to continue to serve him more directly than Shuri. Maybe off panel Shuri got her own husbands in training bodyguards, so she didn't need them, I don't know...

But either way, they're clearly stating that their top priority is to serve Wakanda, which perhaps is the official end of the "brides in training" aspect of their job description.

T'Challa getting that Infinity Gauntlet probably would have been a descent opportunity to fix that dangling issue. But I guess Hickman, like everyone else since Priest, just ignored the whole thing. Ah well... it's an interesting dangling plot thread or someone to tackle down the line somewhere.

WoW already showed that many doras were assigned as Bodyguards to Shuri among other things. And Shuri was there at there graduation, not T'challa.

So, its obvious from the own series that there are lots of functions for the DM.
