Black Panther Appreciation: Wakanda Forever!

The more I think about it, there really should have been a Panther solo to go alongside New Avengers. I think that title could have focused more on the war with Atlantis and Shuri's leadership of Wakanda. Having those dual titles would have shown Shuri's suspicions of what was going on in Necropolis and how T'Challa's decisions were beginning to weigh on him.

i would love to read that, maybe a double feature with atlantis as well to show the atlantean side too?

I've opted to take a let's wait and see approach as far as an BP movie is concerned but as for a BP solo ongoing book without Shuri as Queen, count me the frak out.

That's probably the most practical approach, unless someone has a really strong pitch.

Not that I wouldn't love seeing a solo book, but being used in Avengers frankly is more important as far as exposure goes.

Unless I get a butt-kicking creative team, I can wait for a solo.

I think Marvel will combine elements of Priest and Hudlin. They've written the most successful Panther titles and most importantly, the best Panther characterization of all time imo.

I'll throw in the cig-smoking swagger that Stan & Jack brought forth, too.

It would make the most sense to use the Priest & Hudlin models. Both writers crafted BP to attract non-conventional readers.

BP, written by Roy Thomas & Hickman, seem suited for standard comic readers who never cared for T'Challa in the first place.

Let's not forget David Liss.

I think Shuri is going to show up again. I don't think Marvel is done with her. I don't think she'll be queen when she returns but I do see her returning.

When it comes to POC coming back to life, I'll believe it when I see it.

Jericho seems to be a rare exception.

I hope she is brought back, flesh & blood.

Which is why you try and send a message by putting certain books on your pull list and financially supporting them.

Beyond that, there's franky not a whole lot that can be done as least as far as supporting a title you like. Again, it's an uphill battle for ANY non-franchise title. The VAST majority of books fail. There's no magical fix to that.
