If you knew how the boxoffice worked you would know it's not really outpacing BP. It's a small chance it pass BP. Only way it pass BP is if Disney takes Bp out the theater before it hits 700m. Shuri and Domino earned people asking for a film.

You can enlighten yourself. You love downplaying "minorities". Always downplaying how important Storm and Shuri is to the Black panther series. Domino and Shuri earned people asking for solo films because they are great characters.

I provided sources to what I said. I am not downplaying the BP movie, simply providing an update because I assumed people may be interested.

The fact we are even having a BP vs IW discussion just proves how damn successful the BP solo is.

That doesn't mean it isn't interesting to compare box office numbers.

And for your second point, slow your roll Kareem. I am not downplaying "minorities." I am downplaying supporting characters. We are discussing Black Panther and his supporting characters tend to be minorities. Context.

I think you are getting some stuff confused. BP hasn't hit a billion domestic (its inching closer and closer to 700 million). In fact, no movie has ever hit a billion dollars domestic. SW: TFA got the closest with 936.

It rather depends on how you count it. In terms of raw totals, IW is outpacing BP, but both the weekly and weekend counts give Panther the nod:

Basically, it's starting to look like BP has better legs.

(Not that it actually matters. One could argue IW is doing well partly BECAUSE of the large Wakandan presence. In a way, it's BP 1.5. )

IW marketing is double Black panther's. Black panther is still more impressive.

I strongly suspect the reason that BP has better "legs" BTW, is the rewatch factor. Given the emotional gutpunches in IW, I can't imagine many people wanting to see it more than once. OTOH, Panther is the first movie I watched a second time in the theatre since TFA.
