A big part of the second season being far superior to the first was that it embraced the fact it's based on a comic book. Going back to Oliver just beating up drug lords and throwing in the occasional ninja isn't going to satisfy me. I hope the new count vertigo is going to have some kind of enhanced abilities over the old one otherwise why bother.
