Default Is anybody else reading America Chavez? I can't find her thread.

This book is surprisingly really good and very concise. her character definitely needed this and i enjoyed the previous outing. Has she always been connected to the spoilers:

end of spoilers but in spoiler tag because i'm not sure if that was part of her family tree already.

I read the first issue. It was waaaay better than her last first issue solo attempt. I added it to my pull list, but wont be reading until the weekend.

    I'm reading it as well.

Her last series had some interesting ideas, but I think everyone agrees that it was a flawed series.

I wasn't wowed by anything in the first issue of this series, but I like the character so I'll be showing my support and hoping for the best.

You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back

I purchased the first issue, will probably wait on the second. I thought it was an alright read, but I wish the art was somewhat stronger. While the previous series was certainly a very flawed read, I much preferred the art of Joe Quinones.
Continuity, even in a "shared" comics universe is often insignificant if not largely detrimental to the quality of a comic.

I read it so far it's really just the author retconning her backstory & adding more lantina substance to her origin story not much is really happening in the present.

I think that's why i used the word conscise. It showed the image of the grand mother from the previous run so nothing seems to have been taken away but the character is seriously benefiting from it all being put together and compressing it. The relationships seem real and i love the pops of spanish thrown in throughout the issue it feels natural and not forced. Wasn't expecting it to be such a down to earth book but it looks like we are moving beyond that. The art is beautiful too.

It definitely was flawed. IT felt like a series full of concepts and while i liked those concepts they never really got off the ground. Like the connection they were setting up with her and storm etc. This one seems a lot more focused and a spiderman cameo always means marvel is serious. lol

I appreciated the grandma (eventhough her solo was trash I do hate retcons) & the little Demiurge drawing in the corner of her picture I forget sometimes Billy is technically her God in a sense very weird to think about, and leaves me wondering about how that situation will go down in the MCU/Dr Strange it's a really important aspect of her character I feel they can't just do away with it. That being said retcon was probably a poor choice of words the authors just adding more backstory not really bad thing for what it is I enjoy it. The ending of today's issue did have me a tad confused though the supposed Utopian Parallel still looking like earth to me?

Yes, she's been connected to him since Young Avengers vol. 2 (the book that popularized & established most of the powers & backstory for the current version of the character beyond the template that was established in her first appearance in Vengeance). He's always been an integral part of her origin.
