    Default Censorship of Halloween Displays

There's a bunch of people around DC trying to censor Halloween displays containing headless dummies or headless dummies holding their severed heads. The people think that headless dummies are in poor taste because of the Islamics cutting off people's heads. But headless dummies have been a staple of Halloween displays since I can remember. I heard that a lot of business are complying with the new censorship.

I wonder if this censorship will go national? Will it spill over into TV shows like Sleepy Hallow and Walking Dead which feature beheadings and headless corpses.

It's like the Terrorists have already won.

No matter where you live, there are a bunch of people trying to do all sorts of stupid things. Don't worry about it. If there's a dummy terrorist with a knife to another dummy's throat then you'll probably catch some flak from your neighbors. If it's a scarecrow or dummy without a dummy head you'll probably be fine. No reason to get outraged over outrage.

good to see you Fly. *(hope life has been going well, or at least OK for you (and Decibelle) lately)

Yeah. . I would agree, it almost is as if the terrorists DID win this one.

I'm seeing knee-jerk overreactions here in Texas too. and it's coming from the 'Murica loving Tea Party right-wing Republican folks here. . not the Liberals.

Which I *do* find interesting. . . I would have thought those would be the folks who would defend the right to display whatever one wants for Halloween (such as lynched black scarecrows that HAPPEN to look like Obama . which pop up here every October).

then again, these are the same folks in a tizzy that our President saluted a Marine with a coffee cup in his hand, and said nothing at this:

so what are you gonna do?

I always get outraged over outrage. I bounce off the walls and fly into a tizzy, then I calm down and go looking for something else to be outraged against. That's what the internet was born for. Hey have you heard about all the Latte and Dog saluting that has been going around lately? I blame the military, which keeps on saluting presidents when they can see they have their hands full. Blame the soldiers not the Presidents.

the Presidents who (despite being Commander in Chief) are Civilians, and therefore really shouldn't be saluting anyways?

President Regan started the trend of the President saluting Servicemen (as opposed to nodding to them in acknowledgement)

Considering he's a smart guy, and interaction with the military is maybe not where he's at his most natural, he probably should be on his toes and think twice when it comes to any breach in protocol (since they live for it). I don't think it's a scandal, but it is a goof and one that could have been avoided with some forethought. I was much more embarrassed by the exchange of gifts early on in his Presidency with the British Prime Minister:

So Reagan started all this? Figures. That guy was always a grandstander.

Anyhow we've seen the Dog Salute and the Latte Salute but I want more. I want the Presidents to find a new way to salute every time. Certainly there should be a cat salute, preferably a cute kitten meowing. There could be a frozen TV dinner salute or a package of condoms salute to help fight AIDS. Really, the possibilities are endless.

Will this go national? Dude it went.

Sleepy Hollow got in trouble for a publicity email about "National Beheading Day" in honor of the DVD release

And a theme park has already had to take down it severed heads.

I was also on Facebook when Juxtapose (an art magazine known for being edgy) published a link to 18th century "headless" trick photos that were a rage, it happened to be the day a French citizen was beheaded by ISIS which people kept posting in the comments. I can't find the link anymore on their Facebook and the web page I found in google won't load for me but you can see a cache.

They're not graphic by any means.

I guess it's the latest moral panic.

I guess it shows that people have really imprinted the beheadings into their imaginations. Now when they see something headless, they think terrorist. The terrorists really made an impression on a lot of people, which is what they wanted to do.

Jack O Lanterns are a sort of severed head. I wonder if people will get weird about them?

I think you're being facetious, but there really are people who live that way...many of them, in fact.

huh.. that sounds kinda silly. People have been getting beheaded far before comics were around. Its driving me nuts how some people get offended by every little thing now. Even worse, instead of just laughing and telling them to grow a thicker skin society is accommodating them.
