Problem is, there could be army of Titan-clones waiting for them, and they're only four people. Luckily, Gar knew someone he met during his Doom Patrol days that could help turn the tide. Meanwhile, Steph and Kara are left alone to let everything sink in. In all the chaos, they've barely gotten to catch up with each other's lives since they last met (maybe after all this, they could get a little closer again?) That'd have to wait, as a mysterious figure suddenly crashes onto the wall and tumbled into the front of the building. Steph and others rush out to be greeted by a young girl named Nicole Morrison, who didn't get turned into paste thanks to the force field she flew in. She is the Blue Lantern of Earth, and she's been hopping from city to city helping others in need in the midst of things, willing to lend a hand to them. With almost everyone gathered, it was decided that it's do or die. Time for Operation: Assault on HIVE HQ! (hey wait, no one told Nicole there'd be violence!)

• For another hero, things didn't go as well. After a volatile confrontation with Tobias Whale's assassins the vigilante Jack Johnson aka Jack-in-the-Box has not been seen. In his Astro City, his wife of 25 years receives a package with a gory severed reminder of what happens to enemies of Tobias.
• Finally due to a command from Lex Luthor Bizarro must find a home. He moves into the Suicide Slum and everyone from Mayor Lionel Luthor to the Daily Planet to Tobias Whale is watching his every move. Everything Bizarro does leads to destruction and with Lex Luthor manipulating him from afar he is a danger to everyone. This is a time for Black Vulcan's debut. In a Challenge of the Superfriends-esque confrontation, can the new young hero even hope to stop this bad copy of Superman? • Thanks to Lex Luthor, Bizarro's new life begins. He has a broken down studio apartment in an abandoned building in Suicide Slum. He has a new dog with no name that is cloned from Krypto. He even has a potential job with Metropolis' Superhero team, Steelworks. Too bad he's has no idea what he's doing and he's the most dangerous being in the city.

• Bizarro walks his dog or is the dog walking Bizarro. They go through the city until Bizarro has to uhh let's just say do what dog's do. Krypto senses his clone and Superman's clone trashing his city. It leads to a vicious dog fight, with Bizarro in the middle. Since Bizarro Krypto fears cats the arrival of Streaky may end the stalemate and caused the return of the Creature Commandos.

• Bizarro goes to Steelworks HQ to join the team and to prove himself: "Me kill teammate to show me worthy member." He's confronted by Guardian and it's the clone of a man vs the clone of a superman. In a fight that is over in less than a minute, it doesn't end well for one of them. Guess who.

• The next morning, Lois & Clark arrive at their hotel. After making the day's plans to investigate the death of her government informant, Lois decides to waste no time in finding out what the sparks between them mean and asks Clark out to drinks when they get back. Clark quickly accepts, and agrees to meet up at 9pm in the hotel lounge.
• Meanwhile, at a Cadmus Labs science facility across town, Metropolis' own Lex Luthor is meeting with Dr. Donovan of the genetics division. Luthor is impressed with Donovan's latest experiment, and asks Donovan for a "field test"...
• While interviewing detectives about the death, Clark's hearing picks up the sound of screams from downtown. Excusing himself, he leaps into action as "Superman" and super-speeds to the downtown area. What he finds is a man the same height and weight as himself, but with a very strange face structure and chalk-white skin. Who is this bizarre creature? Why is it angry? And how does it hit so hard?

Even some of the Bat-Family are questioning "did he?" While others hope it to be true.
• The situation makes it difficult to patrol the city in cowl so Batman goes undercover to investigate who really pulled the trigger.....as Bruce Wayne!?!
• And he will be rolling solo as Alfred has left the country leaving behind only a note,
  "Off to England to sort old affairs. Sincerely, Alfred Pennyworth...P.S. You will find a week of prepared meals in the refrigerator and a fresh supply of first aid materials in the "study." Do get your rest, Master Bruce."
  Strange, that is where Lucius and Selina were last seen. The timing couldn't be worse. Wayne Enterprises is fending off a hostile takeover, the Federal Trade Commission is calling for an anti-trust hearing, and...
• The inmates have literally taken over the asylum. Arkham Asylum that is. The (now former - see last issue) inmate known simply as the "John Doe" killer exploded, blasting a hole through the entire structure. Now only a few living and breathing employees remain in the building, locked in Jeremiah Arkham's safe room. Frightened by what awaits them on the other side - several hundred of Gotham's most unstable citizens, hopped up on the new psychotic street drug. They could have escaped but for some reason, they stayed. And what is even more insane, that gaping hole didn't just let the crazies out - it let a few of them in. Dr. Quinn wants to negotiate. She believes she can get through to them, empathize and relate to their anger. Don't open that door Harley, you don't know who may be on the other side...
  "Well hello there Beautiful. Oh where are my manners....Would you like some pudding? It's so good, I'd kill for it, and have. Now where is Jeremiah Arkham?"
• Riots in Arkham. Maniacs on the streets. Mob enforcers are working overtime intimidating voters ahead of the upcoming city elections. The GCPD's underfunded, undermanned and hand-tied. • 15 years ago, a city-wide manhunt was underway for a man known only as "The Dumpster Killer", known for capturing women and leaving their dismembered bodies in alley garbage dumpsters. Batman, coordinating the hunt with Commissioner James Gordon, enlisted the aid of Nightwing & Robin.
• For weeks, the search continued without a single lead. When the 'Dumpster Killer' made the mistake of trying to capture an out-of-costume Harley Quinn, the Joker himself vowed to catch him before Batman could. Naturally, he videotaped his "acceptance of the quest", and sent it to the GCPD, c/o "Dr. Gordon, Head of Spinal Surgery".
• After receiving a tip from a Gotham citizen, the GCPD found the wanted man's red van parked outside a warehouse. Surrounding the building, but before they could move in, Batman & his allies entered from the roof.
• Inside, they found the man dead...he had been dismembered and left in a trash can. Next to the remains: the Joker, covered in blood, apologizing that he couldn't find a dumpster but vowing to get one. Joker turns, with a smile. "Come get me, boys."

Crispus and Zsasz grew up together in the ritzy Gotham Heights neighborhood and Crispus sees how he could’ve became the monster that Zsasz is if circumstances had been different.
• Ellen Yin doubles back to the Jones residence to see her partner in a fight for his life with Killer Croc. Firing her weapon three times she is able to send Croc running. With her partner clinging to life, Ellen Yin has to chase down one of Gotham’s most notorious killers with no backup.
• Harvey Bullock has been beaten worse, but his most recent beating has left him unable to remember when. Being held captive Bullock has to piece together who his captor is and how to escape.

• Tim and Clark come out of hiding. With guards at every exit, there's no way to escape the school. Clark tries to call 911, not realizing the GCPD has already responded & has surrounded the school. Using a hidden button on his watch, Tim sends a distress call to the Bat Family.
• Across town, the other places on the list have also been hit by the Mendoza's. Batman & the allies are busy...but Jason Todd will respond to the call! And he just might bring some help with him...
• Meanwhile, Tim tries to figure out how to help the situation without blowing his secret identity out of the water. And outside, with Commissioner Gordon busy across town, it's up to Lt. Kitch to negotiate. But who is the "mafia princess"? And why are they prepared to execute a student every hour until they get her?

The last thing he hears is “You are going to suffer!!” Then Manhunter leaves the scene with Gangbuster as a captive. And all the while, news crews are videoing the entire event.
Later, Josiah Power and Andrew Bennett meet with Manhunter regarding the fight with Gangbuster. Finally given a chance to explain, Gangbuster provides them with the details of his initiation into F.O.G. and the information he obtained from Brian Green. With all of this information, the one thing the group can agree on is that there is corruption at a high level within the US government & military and someone needs to do something about it. And through it all, Manhunter vows to find out who killed Brian, who she reveals was her brother.

• A string of high profile jewel heists have made the headlines around South Beach. The Miami Herald has dubbed the thieves the "Vanilla Ice Bandits" for their taste in diamonds and of course that unforgettable 90's hit...you know, "A1A, Beachfront Avenue, Girls were hot wearing less than bikinis..." Don't act like you don't know the lyrics.
• So, after watching his third favorite Steve McQueen movie (the one with Faye Dunaway) late one night on basic cable (The new Private Dick Agency hasn't gone over well, so no HBO) Thomas Blake hatches a plan. All it takes is one finely tailored, double breasted and vested suit; a sharp haircut; a good looking, tough talking lady; and a mark. The con is on!
• Thomas plays a well to do and cool as a cucumber millionaire casing diamond stores for gifts for his missus. Queen Bee comes in quickly after charming Thomas exits and informs the store owner that she is a Federal Agent working the "Vanilla Ice Bandits" case and that well dress gentlemen who just left is their prime suspect. She shows a little leg, gains the store's trust and access to the goods. Floyd enters as a distraction and badda bing. Thomas's hands are clean. The Queen has the diamonds and if the caper goes off smoothly then no one gets hurt and the newspapers can keep blaming Vanilla Ice. But you see, the snag inevitably occurs when the real Bandits show up. With the real Feds! Whoops, didn't see that coming.
• It's a game of cat and mouse....and fake cat and mouse...and a Deadshot.
  Suddenly, Thomas is in his all-time favorite Steve McQueen movie, The Getaway (You know, the one with Ali MacGraw and lots of bullets. Not seen it? Do yourself a favor and Netflix it immediately after you read this issue!)

2 centuries ago, Gar-El, a scientist, escaped the planet Krypton just as it succumbed to complete destruction. A brutal Civil War between science and religion rendered the planet a pile of dust. Gar-El would soon arrive on Earth in Colonial America, 1769. Quickly adapting to his new powers, he formed an alliance with King George and ensured that England would win the Revolution. Taking the crown for himself, Gar took a world on the brink of technological explosion and discovery and he crushed it. 1994 looked like 1776.
In 1996, Sovereign's great great grandson Kal-El, a 10th generation Human-Kryptonian, challenged his ancestor's rule and tried to make him see reason. Kal's attempt to convince his grandfather to let the humans govern themselves did not fall on deaf ears, but before Gar could respond his palace guards broke into the room and shot Kal in the head. As a 10th generation born child, Kal's Kryptonian blood had been diluted so much that he was practically human; as a result, he died instantly. Sovereign, racked with guilt, incinerated the guards and took Kal's body, launching them both towards the Sun.
After sending off the body into the core of the Sun, Gar wandered aimlessly into the dark void of the universe. For almost 20 years, he traveled world to world looking for peace and redemption. And that is when he was found by the Keymaster.

A fantastic month overall, with plenty of incentives to get me to pick up titles I normally wouldn't bother with. I had to get the whole Bizarro Unleashed story, which got me to pick up more Steel Dawn titles and give them my vote for best line this month. Cursed Dawn was a close second, with great plots and ideas going on. Haunted Wunderwaffe is probably my single favorite idea this month, but file-sharing a demon summoning spell is great too. Gotham Dawn got my attention more than usual, with interesting plots in Batman: Blue Steel and Gotham's Finest. I of course had to support the Multiverse Line, given that it will be doing great things in the future. Also a lot of great-looking new series starting this month to check out, like Batwoman & The Outsiders and Challengers of the Unknown. Thank goodness I only have to pretend to pay for these!

I'll make my picks in a bit, but I just wanted to say that the solicit for Red Robin #5 was submitted with a rating of 'M' for this month, and in fact it will be for the next couple of issues. This was intentional, due to the subject matter (school shooting). Right now it says 'T' for some reason. So Whit, if we could get that changed, lorec & I would appreciate it
