I haven't looked at the ratings, but I imagine that they're pretty good.

The plotting is crap sure, but the danger is pretty visceral. And like with the parent show, that will carry it oh so far

Both shows do huge...in the parent's show case...its AMC's signature show and has been since the 2nd season. I do think they need to relaunch a new group of survivors for Fear.... and go from there. Just do a new group of survivors fighting for survival in a new city/state and go from there.

Ive enjoyed the show intermittently and I did like the setting (time) right at the start of the outbreak

I think going with a new location again could work

I think you could do it at different phases in a sense. Like...


- Right when it begins .

- Right when things start to completely break down in one perspective. (Maybe a military man and his family....forced to debate duty over the world going to ****)

- Right after years of living in some kinda post apocalypse hell , a group struggle to survive and make it to a safe zone or community.

I'd rather they just cut out the melodrama and make it a straight survival drama with zombies. How is that so hard?

I think the biggest problem with FtWD is that so much of the main cast is just unlikable. Even when the main show would get bogged down in boring plotlines I still cared enough about the characters to keep watching. With FtWD that is just not the case. Most of them I don't care one way or another if they get eaten or not, and half I would actually rather see just get eaten.

EXACTLY.....folks wanting non-stop zombie survival with no real character moments and drama ...well , that wouldn't last long and burn itself out. Because its about building reasons to get into each character and even if it means "melodrama" that is what folks have to latch onto. Before Daryl Dixon became the character we see today , he had melodrama where he had episodes where he had to break out from his big brothers shadow in a sense. To get past that and become his own man.

That doesn't happen if you make Daryl play a one note character who doesn't have that melodrama with Beth , with Carol , with Rick , with Maggie.

Actually, "melodrama" generally means character development and emotional growth are sorely lacking. It's drama without depth.
